Carousel of Progress Opening?

Does anyone have any idea when C.O.P. will be opening this summer. If it will be opening this summer. Another intellligent question -- Who decides when rides like that and timekeeper will be open? :lookaroun :veryconfu

I was at MK last monday and I asked the cm over by buzz lightyear when and if it would be open.. the guy said probably not again till around 4th of July and he still wasnt positive.

I missed it once again by only 3 days

Having purchased season passes, and taken two trips this year I was also dissapointed that it was not open. However, I was assured at the hospitality center at the main gate that it will be open during "Peak" periods. Which jives with the 4th of July.

I can only guess that it will only be open when there is enough folks to actually create a line. I believe that there are other posts with the actual dates found for this ride also..

I've also been waiting for CoP, but I done it a million times, so not biggie. Also I would guess the managers decide when it's gonna re-open.

I love Carousel of Progress! I hope it is opened in when i am at WDW in August, but I have one question.

Why keep an attraction if they only open during holiday periods? It seems to me like a waste of space and resources. Either keep it open indefinitely, or close it permanetly. Don't keep us guessing!

Disney refuses to keep either attractions open every day of the year, and several people on this forum would be kinda ticked if it were removed for good...so it stays in limbo for now.

You would think that they would keep it open all of the time. It doesn't require a lot of CMs, and it is one of the few remaining things in the park that Walt had a part in. It appears highly automated.

I too would be upset if they closed it. I sing the song all the time!

It still cost money to keep it clean and running. Air conditioning alone for the ride and electrcity is problem more than my house

It drives me crazy that they have this ride closed so much....and it scares me, because I am afraid that one day they will just quietly let it stay closed, and replace it with another lovely kiddie ride (nothing against little kiddies, but how about thinking about us big kiddies too)......There are a lot of Disney fans that love Disney because of the nostalgia....and CoP is definitely a link to Walt himself......I dont want Disney to just be thrill rides---I want the park to have the special "feeling" that Walt intended for us to have when we visit.....when you talk about Disney magic, it is real----but if you make it a park of only thrill rides or kiddie rides then you are just gonna have another Six Flags or Universal......SO please--give me back my Carousel Of Progress!
