Carousel of Progress + An old question put to rest

A few weeks ago, I emailed Disney with questions about Fantasmic & Carousel of Progress as well as thanking them for what they did with Ben's 1000th SWSA ride. I really wasn't expecting an answer and if I were to get one, I figured it would be the standard "Thank You for contacting Disney World, we appreciate your input" email response. However, I was trully suprised (not to mention really happy) that Disney took the time to call me. Hope called me from the executive offices at Walt Disney World with answers.

First of, Fantasmic. The age old question...is it a firework show? Some have commented that they list it under the Firework section. Here is her official responce. "It is a night time spectacular including fireworks. I understand your confusion regarding where we place it on the guide maps versus the times guide and so anyway we will look into it as well in addressing it with our VP at the Disney-MGM Studios and the team that creates that sort of callatoral for our guests." Hopefully this will clear thins up and Disney will make sure it is listed under the right category.

Secondly, Carousel of Progress. I emailed them with my suggestion as to what to do with the attraction. I won't post my whole suggestion, but instead just give a cliffnotes version (if you want to hear what I suggested, just ask). Basically I asked for them to keep the ride, but just maintain/refurbish the current scenes, add a new NYE scene in the exit theater, and make the entrance theater the entrance & exit theater. This is her reply...basically, they enjoyed my suggestion and take my email very seriously "and shared it with the Vice President of the Magic Kingdom so that he can look at it and show it to the tomorrowland team as well as the imagineering team and see what they can do as far as that attraction is concerned."

All this goes to show you that if you email Disney (in a nice way), they WILL take your email seriously. The full audio of these messages can be found here (in MP3 format). Those bells you here cover my last name.

BTW: This kind of bordered on WDW Rumors & News so I'm sorry if this belonged in a different category.

Thanks for calling Disney, and thanks for posting this! What a kind GR department. :)

Here's to the Carousel of Progress! :D

P.S. - - The RM links do not work for me. Are they available in mp3?

Well, congrats on getting a response back from Disney. I would hope that CoP will remain where it is located forever..I would like to hear the message, but no offense..I don't really like to download stuff on the internet.

And that is sweet, that she will give it to the Vice-President of the Magic Kingdom!! Good Luck!

I'll make them wave files (since I doubt the free provider will allow mp3s). Also, I didn't even call them, this was all from a simple email using Disney.com's online form.

askmike1 would you support this idea...that Act's 1 though 4 could be cosmetically restored as to what they looked like at the world's fair. The audience could see 1890/1900...1920..1940...AND 1960...and then see the new finale which I guess could be like a bonus scene that would be the only thing that would change..so that the audience can still see the original version of coruse w.o GE refrences but still expereince progress.

Im not sure if you wanted 1890/1900...1920..1940...realistic 2000..."tomorrow"....or 1890/1900...1920...1940...1960..."tomorrow" :king:

Ah. Thanks. :D
What do you know, they won't let me upload wav files but they will let me upload mp3 files. Go figure. Anyway, if you go back to that page, the files are now in MP3 Format. Just remember to hit the refresh button to update the page.

I can't really answer this because I've never seen the World's Fair version. What I can say though is that I want "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" to stay. If they family changed, I would be fine. If the scenes change, I would be fine. As long as the concept is the same and the message is the same (and the song is the same:)) I'll enjoy any update given.

To answer your question I wanted 1900, 1920, 1940, 1960, 2000, tomorrow.

I might have to deflate your bubble a little bit, but there is no way they will show your email (the part regarding CoP) to anyone in a position to make decisions. The simple reason for this is because if they do something similar, you can sue for compensation. All big companies do it this way, because its safer for them.

I realize that, but the point isn't that they will use my idea, but rather they will keep it open and if I'm lucky keep the general feel of what I suggested. I am not asking them to use my idea, I just want it to stay open.

Don't worry, I don't record my phone calls.:) This was left as a message and all I did was put up microphone by the phone...very high tech.

Message #1 (CoP)
Message #2 (F!/Ben)
Hope this works.

Try making a simple HTML file that links to the MP3 files and placing it on Tripod. Hopefully, that'll work, since the ultimate request will be coming from a page that is hosted on Tripod. Then, just give us that URL for the thread.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Disney's policy is that any ideas you write to them automatically and legally become theirs, so I guess they could use it. Keep in mind, I'm only pretty sure, so don't quote me on it.

No, thats not a statement that would have any legal standing whatsoever. By default, IPs are the property of their creator.
