Caribbean Beach Room Updates

We booked a preferred room in Martinique for our Feb 2015 trip, we are hoping those rooms will be remodeled by the time we arrive.

Forgive me, but how does one "book" a room in Martinique? Preferred rooms are in Martinique and Trinidad North, so you could end up in either, no?

When we stayed at CBR, I booked a preferred room and specifically requested Martinique when I booked it. We did get Martinique and we were right at the bus stop and the shortest walk possible at that resort to the food court and main pool.

I understand you can request that. You can request anything. I was just unclear as to how someone could "book" a stay in a specific village. I don't think you can.

If u book a preferred room at CBR u will be in either Martinique or north Trinidad automatically. If u book a pirate room, you are automatically placed in south Trinidad.

You can always request to stay in a particular section of a hotel, they never say its guranteed but 9 out of 10 times they will honor it!

I honestly don't know. We told our TA that we wanted a preferred room and would like to stay in Martinique. Here is what the reservation email said:

DISNEY CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT
PREFERRED VIEW, MARTINIQUE ISLAND
DISNEY MAGICAL EXPRESS TRANSFER INCLUDED
8 DAY PARK HOPPERS
PLUS DINING PLAN

So I am just going by what we told the TA we would like, and what the reservation said.

Queen size beds - definite upgrade although no biggie to me because we always book a king. The rest - meh. I will reserve final judgment until I actually see it in December, but it seems darker than the old design. Don't get me wrong - the old design was definitely dated, and I can't imagine how many coats of paint were on the chairs and dressers.

But anything new is an improvement so we shall see...................

ETA - saw some other pix over at another site. maybe not as dark as I initially thought. Should be fine when all is said and done - and I do like the Mickey & Pluto on the pull down bed.

We stayed in Jamaica in the middle of July, and it was all completely renovated and well done. It was so much better than the old style. As we were leaving they were working on Aruba, and looked to be about finishing that up. So either of those two are for sure done.

I will try and upload some pics later.

We're considering CBR for our trip Oct '15. Looking forward to seeing what updates are made this year and seeing pictures. We usually stay at Pop or Music, but stayed at Coronado in '11 and liked the queen beds, I like the fact they are switching to queen beds.

We have always made the same request and have been fortunate enough to get it every time. CBR gets a fair amount of negative reviews directly related to bus problems, long walks, etc. By booking a preferred room and getting our request honored, we have had nothing but positive experiences and have negated those problems. On a 14 day trip, that preferred room added cost adds up, but my wife appreciates the shorter walks for a soda, snack, the main pool, or the bus. The busses aren't full when they get to us either so she always gets a seat.

I really like the redesign. It puts them in a similar design scheme to CSR - which is a huge plus for CBR. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures as it finishes rolling out to the other Islands.

Love the new look, but I'm wondering why thy decided to start in Jamaica and not start with the preffered rooms first? I am staying at CBR in Martinique requested preffered room and really hope those rooms r renovated!
