Caribbean Beach Resort.

I stayed there years ago and it was a lot of fun. It is a pretty large place. I think others have said it could use some updating. Disney is also refurbishing the main pool until mid September. Try to stay on an island close to the main hub, pool, arcade if after 9/15. The beach there is nice and there are some great activities to do, too.

Check recent threads on CBR. There have abeen a few lately. One was about bed bugs that someones cousin encountered. You may want to call the resort directly and ask them what measures they have taken to rectify that problem. Check out the thread.

I've stayed there twice. My mom, sister, nice and nephew stayed there last September and are going again this September (all except my nice). For our family, we have found that a rental car is best for various reasons. It came in super handy while we were at CBR. :)

The resort itself is nicely themed. We found the rooms nice and I have to say that the food court is one of my favorites. Granted they are all pretty much alike but it seems that the lines were better organized or something there. Also, the shopping there is better than some of the other resorts.

Enjoy your stay.:D

We stayed there in April of 2006 and we really enjoyed it. The theming is great and the resort itself is gorgeous. We especially loved the elaborately themed main pool(which I think is still being refurbed)and the gift shop/dining area at Old Port Royal.

The only negatives that we experienced were the extremely large layout of the resort which can result in some very lengthy walks to dining and bus stops. The bus system was undependable as well. On several occasions I had to use the phone at the bus stop to let Disney transportation know that a large group of us had been waiting at the bus stop for a loooong time. Also depending on which group of buildings you stay in(we were in Aruba)you could also have a very lengthy bus ride both to and from the parks since the bus will make quite a few stops at the resort. That was two years ago though so hopefully it has been improved since then.

Overall it's a great resort with excellent atmosphere and theming so I think you'll really enjoy it. I hope you have a great trip!

I've stayed at CBR in 2000 (my first On-site stay ever) and last November. Though it is probably not my favorite moderate (I've stayed at all multiple times) I do really like the theming and it's a very "relaxing" resort. It's VERY spread out (I believe the resort is about 200+ acres) and all the building are two stories. At night the resort is slightly eerie and I recommend keeping a map of the resort with you at all times because it's very easy to get lost if you aren't very familiar with the grounds. BTW, there are no elevators in the buildings, so if stairs are an issue you need to request a ground level room at or before Check-In.
I might also recommend driving to the parks if you have a car. Keep in mind you don't have to pay for parking and driving can be faster than taking a bus, especially if you are far (or possibly VERY far) from the bus stop.
But, yes, it is a great resort and I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what.

I worked there on the CP, about 15 years ago and have stayed there a few times since. It is awesome! You check it on allearsnet.com, they have all the details. It is a large resort and has great theming! You will definitely feel like you are in the carribean! There are alot extra activities and have a very diverse selection in the food court.

Have a great trip!

Stayed there 2 years ago, and really liked it. It was more important to us to be close to the bus stop than the food court, and they were able to accomodate us. We stayed in the Jamaica complex, in a 1st floor corner room overlooking the quiet pool. Less than a 2-minute walk to the bus. We were usually the 1st stop in the morning, so were assured a seat, and sometimes the 1st drop off at night, too. The resort is pretty spread out, but even the food court was only a 5 minute walk over the bridge.

Rooms in the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale are called "preferred location" rooms and you must reserve and pay extra for them. A simple request just won't do it.

Great theming though the resort is very spread out. I found that taking the bus was not as convenient due to the many bus stops within the resort. Other than that, I have enjoyed staying there. You really can't go wrong with any Disney resort. Enjoy your trip!

Me and my Aunt just planned our 3rd Disney World vacation and we chose to go to the Caribbean Beach Resort. Is this a good place to say?

My husband and I stayed there many times. We love it. It is a beautiful resort. The pool and beach bar are great too. We love the food court. They have a large variety to food choices.

I have stayed there only once and for 2 nights, then switched resorts. (there was a plumbing problem). It is a nice moderate resort and I liked the food court but getting to anywhere took awhile. Resort very spread out and bus goes through several stops before getting to your destination. IMHO, I liked POR (old Dixie Landings)better. Not as big, beautifuly theming and bus transporation seemed to go quicker, not as many stops within resort but always felt close to a bus stop.

Best pool bar on the property by far, it stays open pretty late by Disney standards...of course, you won't have to worry about that for a few more years judging by your picture!!! :animwink:

I have stayed at CBR years ago. It is a nice resort, but it is very spread out. I would prefer POR over CBR, just my personal preference. POR is spread out also, but not as big as CBR. I am actually trying out FQ this year because its not so big as the other mods, and its the only mod resort I haven't stayed at yet, so trying something new is always fun. I think you'll like CBR, the main pool is been under a huge refurb for a while now (not sure when its set to open), so hopefully you'll be there when it isn't closed.

Is the waiting and travel time of buses from CBR similar to those of the All-Star Resorts?

Like all of the WDW Moderate Resorts they are all very nice, but big. Caribbean Beach is very nice, but it is so big it really comes down to where your room is. Ideally you want to get a room that is close to the food court, which is also close to the large pool and the lobby. If you are farther away from these places you may not get to this area as much. The other thing with CB is that there are essentially bus stops for each areas of the resort, so that helps. We also enjoy POR much more, but you can't really go wrong with a Disney resort. Have a great time!:)

Just stayed there a few weeks ago. The room was very nice as well as the resort itself, but since we had a car, didn't use the buses, so can comment about how well they did or did not run.
