Caribbean Beach Resort Buses

We are reading up on the resort getting ready for our vacation and I came across a sentence about the internal bus system that just did not make sense to me...maybe you all can help me understand it...

"An internal bus stops at each village and at OPR and circles the resort twice before leaving."

I understand that the bus circles the property..but what do they mean when they say it leaves..does the bus driver just make the loop twice then leave and then a new bus comes in to the make the loops again..to me that just doesn't make sense..

If is like OKW i think thats right! The bus does not continuously circle, as you can get on any bus that enters the resort as it will stop at every stop too

I've been there 6 times and I've never had it circle the resort twice! There are two entrances to the resort, and the buses usually leave the way they came in, stopping at each stop along the circle unless the bus reaches capacity. There is also an internal resort shuttle that constantly circles the resort. Unless this has changed since my last stay in March 2009, I don't think each bus stops at each stop twice.

I think at one time one of the bus routes (Downtown Disney perhaps) would drive around the resort twice. The first time, as it entered the resort, the sign would say "Internal Shuttle". After the last stop, it would make the loop again, this time saying "Downtown Disney".

The theory being that anyone who got on when it was "Internal Shuttle" would get off at their desired stop before the bus finished its second loop and left for DD, and most wouldn't notice that the sign didn't say "Internal Shuttle" anymore when they got off.

Now, I think they've done away with that, and different routes start their loops at different villages so there will always be SOME bus that can get you from the stop you're standing at and bring you to the stop you want to go to.

I'm going to guess that you didn't find that quotation in an official Disney website, or eben in a very well-informed site about Disney. The reason I say this, in addition to simply not understanding what it's trying to say, is that it leaves out the part about the CBR internal shuttle stopping at the Custom House in addition to each village and OPR. The fact that it left out the Custom House stop, this tells me it was written by someone who doesn't understand the little details of CBR buses.

I think that was also the case with DTD as well. When I stayed there last time there was a bus that said internal shuttle and then switched over to DTD when it got back to the main Conch Flats stop.

Conch Flats has to do with OKW, not CBR. Though I don't think it's a specific part of the resort, but rather the name of the "town" within OKW.

And Cleve, there isn't a stop just for the Customs House. You get off at the Barbados stop and walk across the street. There are 6 village stops, plus the Old Port Royale stop (which is also convenient to some of Martinique).

Are you saying that the CBR bus system has changed in the past year or so? Since I first stayed there in 1990 and as recently as early last year, the internal shuttle bus stopped at all 8 stops ... the 6 villages, OPR, and the Custom House. The internal shuttle was the only bus that stopped at the Custom House. Are you saying that the internal shuttle no longer stops there like it used to?

Bottom line... It hits every bus stop once there and then heads out to the parks. There is a bus for each park about every 20 minutes. You will wait 20 minutes MAX for the bus. It definitely doesn't circle the resort twice, at least as of Dec '10

It seems like most people missed my question..I under there is one set of buses that goes to all the park and downtown and the other set is an internal bus..the sentence that i quoted was only one sentence out of a whole paragraph, so yes it did come from a well known disney site..the only thing i was asking was for someone to explain why the internal bus circles twice and then leaves..someone posted its because it circles ones as in internal bus and then becomes a bus to a park, which now makes sense to me..I'm just use to the NYC buses where a driver stays on one route for several hours so I was just wondering where that bus went after it circled..but thank you all for the response!!

I'll admit, the last time I stayed at CBR was sometime between '01 and '03. (After which we discovered we liked POR better) Not sure if I ever took the Internal bus route, but I recall Guests being directed to get off at Barbados to get to the Custom House.

However, I did just check the current resort map over at AllEars, and there *is* a "bus stop" icon outside Custom House, so I guess that there is now currently a specific stop for the Custom House (which seems a bit redundant to me, being 25 yards from the Barbados stop). But I totally do not remember such a stop before.

Have they eliminated the personal van rides by Bell Services staff to your room? In the pre-DME era of my last visit, you'd get a van ride right to your room, with a Bell Services CM handling your baggage with you.
If this no longer happens, perhaps they found it simpler to add an Internal bus stop and tell Guests to go take that, and have Bell Services deliver luggage at their own schedule.

EDIT: Checking old versions of AllEars (formerly WDWIG) using archive.org, I found this CBR map circa 2003, which does not have the Custom House bus stop icon, and with the notation in the bottom-right to get off at Barbados to go to the Custom House.

So it appears it was an addition sometime in the last 8 years. (A bit more poking around, and the map with a Custom House bus stop on it showed up on AllEars in late 2006)
