Caribbean beach buses

Going to CBR this summer for a week, how is the bus system there compared to other moderates? I usually stayed at the Port orleans resorts before but decided to try the Beach this time.

I haven't stayed there myself, but have been researching it ever since we booked there for this coming November...

The main difference between CBR and the other moderates is the sheer number of bus stops -- 7 different depots for each bus to and from a park, significantly more than any other moderate, although the bus isn't shared (e.g., as in the case of PORS and POFQ, which sometimes shares), which may even things out a bit. As a result (and depending on which "village" you're staying in), you're going to have a longer bus ride (either coming or going, depending on where your village falls along the route) and, if your stop is near the end of the pickup route, a greater chance of having to stand on the bus.

As far as the frequency of buses and the amount of time you spend waiting at the depot, from the reviews I've read it appears that the wait for a bus is the same as those at the other resorts (with some reviewers saying they never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, others saying it's more like 20 minutes, and sporadic reports of a longer wait here or there -- which jibes with our experiences with wait times everywhere else we've stayed; PORS, Coronado Springs and VWL).

I can't swear this is still true but when I stayed there several years ago (loved it by the way) the buses took different routes to different parks. There are two entrances/exits to CBR and which exit/entrance they take depends on the park to which they are going. Therefore, while your stop might be the first one on the way to MK, it might be the last one on the way to Epcot (an example, not the actual routes which I don't remember.) The good thing is that with the multiple stops, when you get to yours, you are closer to your room than you are at some other resorts.

Having been to all moderates, all I can say is this about the buses. Luck of the draw. On any given visit, we've been the only ones on the bus, and we've been the only bus to be full of scooters....

The bus system is what it is, there is not magic here, depends on the day, the crowd, the weather, life.

:D

I have only stayed at Port Orleans and Carribbean Beach and never had a problem at CBR. It's nice that they now have TV monitors with the estimated times of the next bus to the park. If you eat breakfast at Old Port Royale and get the bus from there you definitely will not have a problem.

From what I've read, during peak times the buses may not stop at all seven stops.

There might be two MK buses, one serving three stops and the other serving four.

We just stayed there 1 week ago and POR 3 years ago.
Did not like transportation at POR but it may have changed.
As far as CBR we had no issues. We stayed in the Jamaican village and we were always on first in the morning and first off at the end of the night! The busses came through pretty regularly and the monitors were always accurate. 2 mornings we arrived at the stop just as our bus was pulling away and the next ones came pretty quickly! Only drawback is the time it takes to get from CBR to the Magic Kingdom- but there is nothing you can do about that since CBR is extremely close to HS and Epcot. Have fun!

We avoid the buses as much as possible but the few times we did take the bus were rough. We waited through 10 buses (1 for our park, 5 for another, 3 for another and 1 for disney springs so at least we weren't trying to go to the fourth park!) before one came for us and a bunch of people didn't make it on that one. The problem was that the stop we were at was at the end of the route so there were very spots for any of us. Lesson learned for sure.

Fun fact: It's 7 mins via bus from CBR to Epcot and 9mins to MK.

They must have been taking a different route or we hit every red light but... the average time for us to get to MK was 15 minutes plus the time it took from our Jamaica stop to exit the resort.... Seemed like forever to me!

The longest it would take would be ten mins, unless they were taking their time at different bus stops or driving in circles! LOL!:hilarious:
