Car Rental help!

Hi - Going to WDW May 5 - 12, but will need a car for this trip. I have never rented a car before and had no idea it was going to be so expensive - I'm getting rates of about $300 for the week for a compact/economy car for pickup and drop off at MCO! Does that seem right?? I've been searching for coupon codes, etc but still come out in that price range. If anyone has any tips, sites, codes, etc they know of that may help, please let me know!!!

PS - adult driver (well) over 25 with valid US license

Somehting else--before you drive the car away, check it out for scratches and bumps. If there are any,make sure they are written on the hire agreement, so they can`t charge you for them when you return the car!!!

This is very critical for Alamo which we had problems with in the past. Fortunately not only do I walk the cars I also take photos with the digital camera of any issues.

Also be very careful when you arrive at night because it is much harder to see any issues under artificial lights.
