DLRPtoday is reporting that Captain EO will close on April 2, 2012.

This officially stands as unconfirmed information, but several sources, including one speaking directly to DLRP Today, have reported this evening that Captain EO will close once and for all at Disneyland Paris on 2nd April 2012. The final day of operation for the reborn Discoveryland 3-D cinema attraction will reportedly be Sunday, 1st April 2012 — ironically also the first day of the 20th Anniversary celebrations. News of the closure was apparently revealed to Cast Members at the attraction today, with no announcement of an imminent replacement.

I would have hoped to see it in September, but I'm fine with that. Since they will not replace it with another attraction, I don't understand the closing. That area of Discoveryland is already a dead zone and with the very bad condition of Star Tours it gets worse. I guess they will add another M&G.

It seems odd to close it with nothing in the plans to replace it. I would rather an attraction stay open than a closed one, even if its a terrible one.

Hopefully more info will come out soon.

I wonder whether it might be a way to offset the cost for all the additional 20th anniversary offerings. The longer opening hours will cost them quite some money - and this way they save a little bit?

In the Figaro interview Philippe Gas supposedly said that people are happy if they see 6 attractions per day (well, I would NOT be happy with that number) and I am sure that they count Dreams as an attraction in that sense. So adding Dreams would add "capacity" in their way of thinking. :veryconfu

I wouldn't be happy either with just six attractions a day. I'm not sure if Disney saves a lot of money with closing the attraction. Of course they would have to pay the licence for the movie and the wage of the employees, but it's just a one attraction. Maybe they bring HISTA back?

I really dislike Captain EO and after riding it at Epcot I have no desire to ride it at DLP, I quite like HISTA though so if they don't make a new film right now I hope they reinstate it!
