Trying to figure out somewhere outside of a park for a 2:00 lunch. My husband has no interest in going to the party but just relaxing at the resort (I guess he has vacationed with me too much and thinks he will need this down time to keep up with me for the rest of the week?!). I even offered to let him pick out somewhere to go while we were at the party but he said he doesn't want to have to travel to get there. Lol. I think all the different transportation it's a little intimidating to him and I'm sure it probably is to someone that doesn't quite understand how it works traveling from one resort to another.

Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great experience. They are open for lunch. If he is a sports junkie, ESPN CLub at Boardwalk is fun, comfort food. Nearby the MK, Whispering Canyon at wilderness Lodge is a unique experience, and can be quite filling.

Back to Cap'n Jacks, since that is what was inquired about --
The quality of Cap'N Jacks is a bit spotty -- sometimes you can have a great meal, and other times not so much, despite the same menu. As a heads up, all of their meat dishes are better than any of their seafood dishes.
I've never really been disappointed here. You get a great view of the lake, and the food is decent. Its not earth shattering. The food certainly IS better than at T-Rex...frankly, I can't believe anyone would rate any of the food at T-Rex as good.
The Pot Roast is probably the best dish on the menu. DO NOT get the crab cakes here. They are made with canned crab and just taste bad. It can ruin the experience for you.
Cocktails are generously poured. The service is friendly, but over-taxed. They don't have enough servers working at Cap'N Jacks, so the few servers they have are friendly, but clearly overworked and tired, especially as the crowds roll in after 5:30 pm...If in doubt, ask your server what they think looks particularly good today. The food here is sort of "hometown diner", though overpriced. Its certainly a restaurant you go to more for the location and the view than for the food.

We are going to try Sanaa for dinner. As far as whispering canyon since they changed their menu its not to appealing to me. That would have been perfect since we are staying at Wl

Ate there three years ago and would not soon again unless I heard some sort of glowing new reviews! Ridiculous wait time for a very mediocre meal with slow service...at least that was our experience.

That is just what caught my eye was the view. Of course we really enjoy seafood. I'm thinking Big River Brewery unfortunately they don't take reservations. I'm sure I won't be the only one with this idea of a late lunch before the party starts. I'm so pathetic that I don't want to waste time at sit down restaurant during the party. Lol

As a heads up-- your not going to find any difference overall in the restaurants before the party starts -- while there are resort guests that go to the party, 90% of the people there are Florida locals. It doesn't really have much of an impact on the resorts themselves nor the restaurants.

IMO...I would walk a little farther and head to Raglan Road for a sitting around 8:30...live entertainment steps up (pun intended) after 9:00 so we get there around 8:30 so our orders are in before the ruckus starts...and GOOD RUCKUS at that!!!:)

I am looking for a place for a late lunch/early dinner before mickeys not so scary Halloween party. My husband is heading back to the resort while my daughter and I go onto the party. Just thought it would be nice to have a meal together before leaving him for the evening. (I'm sure he will be looking forward to it).

Guys, how does Jack's and Fulton's compare? Have never been to either because I go to Raglan's. Er, all the time. Because I had a P37 disasterous experience and I do RF at AK so I don't bother.

Now I miss when it was the Empress Lilly in the 80's and 90's. Wow, what dinners I had there...that is why I am apprehensive to try.

We went for our first and last time three years ago...I was in the mood for something crunchy with the meal so their side of mashed potatoes with every meal wasn't doing it for me. I asked what other options they had and the waiter responded "We don't do fried food here, so you can have some Goldfish crackers if you would like." My jaw dropped, I didn't ask for fried food, I just asked what else they had. Oh and he really did bring me a bag of goldfish crackers. I will NEVER go back!
