Can't post picture

I am trying to post a photo under the photo threads but I get a message that says, "The uploaded file is not a valid gif or jpg file. Please ensure that it is an [sic] try again." However, I am attaching a jpg file under the maximum file size. What am I doing wrong????? HELP!

The image has to be less than 740 pixel in width, and less than 901024 bytes in size.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

I think I'm an idiot. I still can't get it to work and I've dropped it down to 740 and then even smaller than that and it still won't work. Is 901024 the same as 901k? Any other ideas? HELP!
