Canon announces EOS 5D Mark III

Very nice! What lenses are you going for?

I just got the 24-70L and sigma ultra wide, so no lenses for a while. I'm just going to revel in finally having a full frame!!

The 50D didn't live up to my expectations. I think some of the Rebel models handled noise better than the 50D. I read the early reviews about the problems with noise and didn't really believe them. I thought a new model just had to be better.

I think the 60D is a lot better, and I've debated the 7D, but in the end I'm just ready for a full frame.

Dh offered to buy me the Mark ii for Christmas, but I knew Canon would be announcing this soon and I would have been sad, so I told him to wait!

Now I'm so glad I did, although I will be paying attention to the reviews this time. :)

I believe most of Sigma's ultra wide lenses are designed for APS-C ("crop sensor") DSLRs and would suffer from heavy vignetting on a full frame body. Sigma uses the designation "DC" for their APS-C products so you'd want to check if those letters appear on your lens.

Most of the lenses in my collection are for crop sensor, such as the popular Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and Sigma 30 f/1.4, which is why I'll probably be sticking with my 7D body for the foreseeable future.

I did know that when I bought it. I debated the 16-35L in anticipation of the full frame, but I really wanted an ultra wide. So I will either keep the 50D as my back up body, or I will be selling it on ebay. :)

I do wish there was a better selection of off brand lenses for the full frame.
