I was just wondering why they are charging 2 table service meals for the Candlelight processional w/Dining package? I know that a special viewing of Illuminations is also included, but that seems a little steep?? We visited Disneyworld 2 years ago the week after Thanksgiving and will be coming back again this year at the same time. We got decent seats for the processional as walk ups and then watched Illuminations. Does anyone know why this might be and if it is worth the upgrade?:xmas: Thanks!

Heading for the great escape.
Basic supply and demand, they know they can get away with it so theyve hiked the price. Im not wasting two credits on it so Ill pay and keep the credits for a sig meal.

Booked on Sunday and its been bugging me ever since, if it werent that theres 5 of us and Mrds Sak loves it Id take a chance

I am not doing the package either, as Pumbas said if your going to use 2 credits use them for a signature resturant. I have never done the CP(first time this year) but with three showings a night and if you go midweek I think the odds of getting a stand by seat should be really good. How many does that theater hold anyways?

Do they gig you with 2 credits on the Fantasmic dinner package also?

Looking at the posted prices, 2 credits doesn't seem that far out of whack.
Tier 1
Seating 1 - $32.99 plus tax & gratuity / ages 3-9 $17.99 (Lunch)
Seating 2 & 3 -$44.99 plus tax & gratuity / ages 3-9 $22.99 (Dinner)
Tier 2
Seating 1 - $38.99 plus tax & gratuity / ages 3-9 $12.99 (Lunch)
Seating 2 & 3 - $44.99 plus tax & gratuity / ages 3-9 $14.99 (Dinner)
Tier 3
Seating 1 - $51.99 plus tax & gratuity /ages 3-9 $13.99
Seating 2 & 3 - $59.99 plus tax & gratuity / ages 3-9 $15.99 (Dinner)

It may not be worth while at the Tier 1/2 restaurants, but the Tier 3 restaurants thats pretty much the cost of 2 regular TS dinners. Typically about $30, correct? And glancing at the Jiko menu, (which I believe is Signature dining, also 2 credits) its about 11 for app, 36 for entree, and 8 for desert, which is pretty much the same price as the Tier 3 dinner pricings, if not less. Narcossee's looks to be a bit more, but they probably all balance out.

But once again, Disney knows its about convenience. Where the DDP is so popular, many people don't look at the actual cost involved, and just do it. Just like using a room charge or plastic chips at a casino, the DDP helps to have people consume something without really thinking about the real cost to them, since they don't "see" the bill for the actual meal.

with approximately half of the seats held for standby.

Surely that's not right - if Disney sells more than 900 Dinner packages for a performance then they're not going to turn those guests away over the 900 just to seat the stand-by line. As the name implies, stand-by will be allowed to use whatever seating is left after all Dinner Package guests have been seated

The theater holds around 1800, with approximately half of the seats held for standby.
I do not believe this is correct. From what we have been told they will sell out the entire theater.

To the OP....Pumbas hit the nail on the head. The dining packages book to near capacity 90 days out. Supply and demand dictates that you raise prices until they meet. Also the cash price of the CP packages have always been a bit higher than the non-CP prices at the same restaurant. It only follows that the DDP prices it match it.

It has to do with the fact that if you are paying for the processional dinner package out of pocket you get an appetizer, entree and dessert whereas if you are on the dining plan, you only get an entree and dessert. It caused great confusion last year as to what meals could and could not be included on the processional package if you were on the dining plan. We ate at Marrakesh last year and we were on the dining plan AND on the processional package and the cast members got confused over what we could and could not order. The Morrocan Royal Feast which comes with appetizer, entree and dessert was allowed on the processional package as it included the appetizer but it was not allowed on the basic dining plan as it did not include appetizers. The Candlelight Processional dinner package now takes 2 table service credits from your dining plan to account for the fact that it includes an appetizer, much like Cinderella's Royal Table does.

I just heard from allearsnet, that the dinner package includes a special viewing of Illuminations. Does anybody know how this will work? Will it be an area set aside for dinner package badges, to view Illuminations?

Even with, the special Illuminations viewing area and an appetizer, it still is not worth 2 dining credits based on the fact that all the resturants that are included are 1 dining credit the rest of the time.
