Cancellation?

Hi

Looking to take advantage of the free dining offer on the disney website but would be booking holiday without flights as too far in advance.

If we had to cancel the holiday after paying the deposit, are we liable for the whole amount of the holiday or do we just lose our deposit?.

Thanks

"For cancellations made 45 days or more prior to guest
arrival, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees assessed by third party hotels or other
suppliers, vacation insurance premiums, and other amounts owed, will be refunded. For
cancellations made 2 days to 44 days prior to guest arrival, amounts paid, minus a
cancellation fee of $200.00 per package and minus any cancellation fees assessed by third
party hotels or other suppliers, vacation insurance and other amounts owed, will be
refunded. For cancellations made 1 day or less prior to guest arrival, the full price of the
package is non-refundable."

Basically if your cancel 45 days or more before your check in date then you get a full refund. 2 to 44 days before your check in date you pay $200 and get the rest refunded, 1 day out from check in and you lose everything you have paid.

Yikes - this is why I do not do packages. I am fine with the room only rates.

Ok so sorry for being dumb but if we Paid our £400 deposit tomorrow (booking for August 15) but had to cancel in September time due to flights..... Do we get our deposit back? As the rest of the holiday wouldn't be payable until June 15

Not dumb at all.

I am not sure what your check in date is but lets say it is the 15th on November 2015 as an example. If you cancel on Oct 1st (45 days before your check in date) you would get a full refund. If you cancel between Oct 2nd to Nov 13th (44 to 2 days before your check in date) you would get all of your money back except $200. If you cancel on the 14th of November (24 hours before check in) you would get no refund at all.

It is all based on your check in date and no other date.

Now you can buy the travel insurance which will cover a full refund in case of an emergency or something like that.

I always get freaked out the day before we leave that something is going to happen causing us to not be able to go

When exactly is your check in date?

If you need to cancel within that 45 days or less time period, but would like to reschedule, would Disney apply that money as a deposit for a new reservation? Is it just lost (from the customers point of view) and they would need another deposit for another reservation?

A refund is processed and a new charge is made.

Yes. If you cancel this September for a reservation for August of 2015, you'll be fine. Whatever your check in date is in August go back 45 days and that's your cut off. Before that day you have no problems. After that date and the penalties are as described above.
