Canceling tickets after booking?

Is there anyway to cancel part of my package that i booked through Disney after I've already booked and paid for it months ago?

We were originally flying in at night, but due to some circumstances we are able to come in early now and get use of the entire day. I was pondering buying another ticket (I just bought 2 day base tickets, no hopper or anything) when i realized my military discount could get us a 4 day ticket for pretty much the same price i paid for the 2. Originally, i didnt get them cause we only needed 2 days and it was only a savings of like $30...and it didnt seem like worth the hassle to have to go to the base, etc.

But now, id be saving like $200! Would they let me cancel the tickets I purchased through Disney? Or apply my military discount to the pre-existing tickets (and add the 2 additional days?) I used the room only discount of 30% that was offered in the fall (or whenever that was), i believe...so i dont think i got any discount towards the tickets or the package, just the room.

Any help would be awesome! Thanks!!

Also, for anyone in the military (my husband is in the National Guard) ... does the military discount only apply to "our" family (spouses and children)? Or as long as we are present, can we also buy tickets for our immediate family like brothers, sisters, moms, dads, etc ?

You may be able to apply it to the existing ticket. I remember a few years ago when Disney had the "give a day, get a day" promotion, we volunteered for the day and got our tickets. It was early in the year and Disney the Play 4 promotion for Florida residents. I was able to apply that voucher for the one day towards the purchase of a Play 4 pass and got four PLay 4 passes with the park hopper added for like $200.

I think you should be able to call and cancel your tickets and they should give you a credit. Two years ago I cancelled for the hallowen party because of a death in the family and they credited my charge card.
Before you buy tickets did you check out the price from Shades of Green? My brother in-law works for DOD and he usually gets the tickets down at the hotel. If you don't have a car you can walk there from the GF or Poly.

You are going to have to call as military discounts can be a little weird at times, but here is how I think it is going to play out.....

If you are buying your tickets on base or at Shades of Green you will be switching from a package reservation (room + tickets) to a room only reservation. This will require a cancel, refund and re-book. They can not transfer the money from one to the other as they are technically handled by 2 different companies (WDW Travel company handles the Package, Disney does the room only). They can do this all on one phone call, but your refund might be in limbo for a few days.

If you can get the discounted tickets as part of your room package they will just refund you the difference.

Ahh, i guess thats why they have the fee, since its handled by two companies. oh well...it was a nice thought. i guess we can just use that extra day to hang out at the resort and play mini golf or something ha

For future reference - you can also use the military discount for the 4-day park hopper (and the room rates at SOG) for extended family. Someone with a military ID (you or your spouse I think) has to be the one to purchase the tickets and book the reservation, and you also have to be there the first time the tickets are used at a park to validate them. We did this last year with my wife's brother-in-law who is USAF, and it's a great deal!

No, that isn't it. The fee is due to the fact that you booked a package; final payment is due 45 days before travel, and if you cancel after that, there is a $200 penalty. This is the Booking Terms and Conditions when you booked the package.

I understand it was the conditions of the package. I had circumstances that happened this week that allowed me more time in WDW that i would have liked to have if possible. I havent been keeping a countdown of the days to my trip, otherwise i would have called 3 days ago.

I understand, but you were thinking it had to do with having 2 companies, that wasn't why.

You can always call in and have them add or remove days to your tickets that are in the package, but since you have a package, switching to the military discount tickets is not an option.

Thanks!! I did look into SOG when I originally booked, but we decided to go with PORS instead. But I think I will definitely use that option next time! If you stay at SOG though, you cant use the Dining Plan right? Thats my one turn off from it, i love just having everything paid for, and not having to think about that stuff! But it really is a great option!!!!

Do you know if I could go check it out when Im there for this trip? Just pop in and see whats up, as long as i have my ID?

No, you can't use the DP at SOG, but we don't use it anyway, and the amount you save makes it worth it IMO. I think the rate depends on military rank, but you get a huge room (biggest on property I think), it's right next to MK, and you still get EMH and transportation - all for the price of a value.

The cons (at least from our experience) - you have to pay for parking at the parks, no Disney theming, food at SOG is not great.

I'm not sure if you will be allowed on property without a reservation - they were pretty strict about who is allowed in to the resort. I would suggest you call ahead and ask if you can come by and see it. For anyone who is military, you need to do at least one trip using SOG - it's just too good a deal! You can also do a split stay like we did.
