Canadian Visitors

I posted this thread until the wrong board... here is it again...

We booked at AOA in November. There is a fall deal going on during that time, but of course AOA is excluded from the deal!! I was hoping some kind of deal would come up for us Canadian Visitors with the dollar being so bad right now. Our almost $3000 vacation is almost $4000 now! :(anyone else feeling this pain?

We are heading down from Dec 10-17. I have a US dollar account so I was able to buy most of our spending money before the dollar got really bad. We booked the trip through a local TA and paid in CDN$. While the dollar is really bad right now compared to the US$, I can remember when it was even worse during the 80's. Hopefully if the dollar remains low and the amount of Canadians visiting WDW drops we will be able to get some good deals.

My plans have enough "fudge factor" that the dollar doesn't impact my vacations. I start planning when I'm comfortable I'll be able to afford the trip.

Some years I do six trips, some fewer.

We are considering a trip next August and are hesitant to book now or wait an see how the exchange changes over the next few months. I know in the past that Disney has offered Canadian money at par but would we need to experience a sustained low (an possibly a decline in Canadian travel) before Disney would make an offer like this?

I don't think we are going to see much of an improvement in the dollar any time soon. You can always book now for the best offer that is available and then if something comes available for Canadian residents you can switch your reservation.

We are a family of 5. Were considering a spring break in Orlando. However, with the Canadian dollar, it's looking very expensive. Considering other countries where dollar is stronger like Mexico. Before we book elsewhere does anyone know the chances of Disney offering Canadian dollar at par? If I thought they would likely do it, we would hold off. Do want to give the family a vacation as the main Christmas gift.

I've never seen Disney offer anything like the Canadian dollar at par, but they do Canadian special offers sometimes. We saved about an extra $200 with Play, Stay and Dine for this coming Jan/Feb since we're Canadian. Every little bit helps.

My husband was born in Canada but is now living in the U.S.. Would that qualify him to use the Canadian discounts when and if they come out ? He has Canadian birth certificate but US drivers license.

We just paid $1.40 Canadian for every American dollar of our reservation, and it hurt!!!

Plenty of people I know are cancelling US trips, even just weekend shopping trips, because we're losing so much money in the exchange. Fingers crossed for a solid bounce back sometime this year!

We are booked for May 20-22 at the parks. It sucks because of having to convert everything into Can Dollars to do pricing. Does anyone else think that they are going to start selling tickets at par again?
