I think 50 percent of the people in the parks last week were from New Orleans because of Mardi Gras like me.....everywhere I went there was New Orleans people. A man at the front desk of Port Orleans Riverside said he checked in 25 people in a row from New Orleans.....now 49 percent of the visitors were from Canada. Was there some holiday in Canada last week or were they sick of cold weather. Every CM I talked to said most of the people were from New Orleans or Canada.......so of anyone knows why so many Canadians, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Well, for those who were going to Mardi Gras and somehow wound up in Orlando, I think their GPS is either set WAY off or they were too drunk to find their way back to their hotel in New Orleans and somehow wound up in Orlando. Hmmmm...

The Canadian invasion? They wanted to know what American beer tastes like, eh ;)

I dunno...thats just a guess....

What?! You left New Orleans for Mardi Gras?! Well at least you left for the next best thing!

Actually now that I think about it, I probably would have prefered WDW over MG!

Canadian Invasion!

It’s true, most Canadian’s love to travel to warm spots like Florida, Arizona and California during the winter. And the seven day pass special helps with the exchange rate that we’re stuck with here in Canada. But the big reason for the Canadian Invasion during last week, this week and next week is, it’s out spring break! Most of the school systems here have one or two weeks off during this three week period in March. Which is good for us since the American spring break doesn’t take place until the Easter holidays causing peak period at WDW after we’re all long gone home. Oh, and that stuff you call beer down there, is sold as bottled water up here! :animwink:

Just got back and meet a few people from both Cananda and N.O. However, also meet a ton from Michigan, Ill, Kentucky, ect.... Many many from the North. I was also suprized to see many people from GA and FLA.

I said it before, the parks did not seem hurting at all for people, I don't know what Disney is whinning about!!!!!!

In Durham Region our March Break is untill this friday(it started last thursday) So that is why there are so many Canadians. Also the winter has been real bad this year, we have had soooo much snow, almost 2 metres! And its been really cold too, to day with the windchill it near -20C, actually last monday a girl in my class had to go to the hospital because she got hypothermia from walking to school!!!

I would have to agree that the only reason they would come here for the beer is to learn to appreciate the Canadian beer more.

Of course they could go to the Rose and Crown and get some real beer or more specifically Guinness Stout (and a touch of Bass Ale, too please).

I know that around the second week of November, when most students and businesses have the Veterans Day off, all school in NJ are closed for a teachers convention for the entire week. So during that period families from NJ flee to Disney b/c it is a nice time to go and the kids wont be missiong school. Even though both my parents teach, we were only able to go during this time once because the rule is that me and my sister are not allowed to miss any sport practices. So that leaves us only with peak time visits such as Easter, Christmas, and summer. That one time we were there in November, lots of people from NJ and lots of people in general that we knew.

You really didn't miss anything here. The weather was terrible and it's not like there were any big names here for the parades. I know alot of people who go to Disney during Mardi Gras. I'm hesitant because of the crowds.
BTW-as you may have read: this was one of the slowest Mardi Gras' ever, revenue wise.

So true! That's when we go every year too! And we always see people we know. It's nuts.

Whereabouts on the Jersey Shore? That's where I am from too!

I think people are coming down from the Northern areas just to thaw out for a week. It is just thawing out at WDW is an added bonus.

We used to drive down to WDW (I-75) during my Christmas break. No matter which state we were in, the majority of the cars that passed us had Michigan or Ontario plates. We liked going at that time because since we have all 4 seasons here, it's nice to get a taste of warm weather during winter. Plus we could watch the Very Merry Christmas parade on tv and see it live in person a few days later.:xmas:
