Can you use a seperate credit card from the designated card on your Key to the World?

Hello fellow Disney enthusiasts!

I'm setting sail on my first Disney cruise August 12th on the Dream as a college graduation present with two of my friends.

I know that there will be a designated credit card assigned to our Key to the World, but my question is, if they want to purchase souveniors/drinks can they use their own credit card and disney gift cards, or all purchases have to go on the key?

You can have more than one credit card associated with the room. Each person can have their own credit card authorized for their key to the world card.

Keep in mind this does not mean that you can go up to a vendor on the ship and hand them a credit card or cash to complete the purchase. All onboard purchases are done via the KTTW Card, though you can have a different credit card associated to each KTTW. I'm not sure about the giftcard question though (and such things as Disney Rewards)....the cruise line I used to work for didn't have those. :lookaroun

That's fine, it makes life easier to only worry about our KTTW while out and about on the ship and port adventures instead of a full wallet (besides our ID to get back on the ship). I just didn't know if all of the keys to our room had to have the same credit card activated. But you both cleared that up, thank you.

If we can't use gift cards there, we'll just save them for our few days in WDW.

I may be wrong, or I may be misunderstanding you, but your KTTW card will not be useful during your port adventures (except for Castaway Cay). The port adventures are run by separate companies, not by DCL, so if you want to spend money while on an excursion, you need to pay with cash or credit card.

For example, when we did the "Dolphin Trainer for a Day" excursion, they took pictures of my daughter in the dolphin tank and sold them at the end of the day. We had to use a credit card to buy the pictures.

You probably already knew that, but I just wanted to clarify that one part of your comment.

Can you also put cash on the KTTW card. We don't have a credit card but we do have a Visa debit card but I don't want to use that while on our cruise since I magine they would put a hold on a certain dollar amount and I wouldn't want any bill pmts to reject that might already be set up

I could have been clearer with my post. I understand that my KTTW card will not be useful in Nassau (we're looking into one of the dolphin excursions too). The port adventures I was refering to were ones in Castaway Cay. Thank you for the clarification just in case.
