Can you really tell a difference between orange and green Mission Space?

I'm looking forward to trying the "mild" version. I've never gotten sick or even slightly queasy from any roller coaster or spinning ride -- except Mission: Space, the original version. While my breakfast stayed down, I felt dizzy and nauseous for a good couple of hours afterward.

There is most assuredly a differnce.

I'll ride orange unless we are in a rush and the time difference between the two sides is significant.

I guess it's just luck if Orange bothers you or not. It has never effected me, nor my two kids (who have been riding it since it first opened where there was no "green")

Oh, there is a difference, but I don't find it that much different. Orange is more intense and the g-forces are very noticeable. I can ride either without any after effects but I prefer green for two reasons. One is that I don't really have to worry about it. (breathing during takeoff is my problem since I am overweight it puts a lot of pressure on my chest and diaphragm until I remember to breath through my mouth) Two...the line is always shorter and I still find it a fun realistic ride. :)

BTW according to some, in the know, people they never did tone down the orange side from it's original, they just added the green side to give an option to many. If you can ride Star Tours without any problems then the green side should work for you. There is, to my knowledge, absolutely no spinning on the green side.

There is a big difference. I rode orange many times, and each time I did I came off feeling nauseous and dizzy. Of course I come to find out after that many members of my family have a history of dizziness and inability to ride rides like that.

A good chunk of the population get dizzy or nauseous and cannot handle rides like that. I've never seen so many sick people come off a ride at Disney until this thing opened. I'm glad they added the green version. Makes it something far more people can ride.

I've only rode the Green, and was sick with a migraine after, so I can't imagine trying Orange. My husband felt woozy after Green too, but he still wants to try Orange. I told him he could, but if he gets sick I'm not going back to the room with him! Wife of the Year here! ;)

Orange really isnt that bad, just do as they say. Don't look sideways. My wife and my 66 year old father both prefer the Orange, them having done both.

There is a difference, but Orange isn't bad to me. I love it, you get the feel that the astronauts did when they used similar tech to train for missions.

There is a difference, but for those people out there, don't be afraid to ride Orange. I mean, is Disney known for building unsafe, Kingda-Ka level rides? But anyway, yes Orange is more intense, because then Disney would have wasted money on a ride that's already right next to it.

Absolutely you feel the difference -- at least for anyone over the age of 13 or so when inner-ear things start to change...
I get nauseous and sick on the GREEN side, I could never ride the Orange side...I don't do any spinners anywhere, nor any coasters or anything else that spin or go upside down. Upsets my inner ears far too much.

I don't feel much difference between the two when I ride them just once and then walk away. Once I rode orange about 4 times in a row and then felt a little woozy on that last ride.

Okay, I'm not sure how you think there is not much difference. On the orange I have to take a motion sickness pill beforehand and I've ridden the green once and deemed it dull and boring and will stick only to orange from there on out, motion sickness pill and all.

I Love Orange but my boyfriend almost died on it, and i quote he said "I will never ever ride it in my life, i felt like I was going to have a heart attack"

Gotta agree with some of the folks above but I absolutely can tell a difference. With one I get off feeling a little disoriented and, especially if I ate or drank recently, maybe even a little woozy. With the other it's no different than getting off Test Track or anything else. I will say this too... I LOVE the Orange version but being able to turn my head during the ride without instantly feeling like I'm going to throw up is a lovely benefit to Green. LOL!

I have never tried Green, but based on what you all are saying I definitely will next time. I tried Orange because I wanted to say I had actually experienced it. I know I'm not cut out to be an astronaut as I get terribly motion sick, even in cars. But, I just thought...okay...it's just this once...and then you'll just sit for awhile, take some ibuprofen and be over it. I did end up having to do exactly that, but now I can say that I rode one of the best rides on the planet. I won't ride it again, but at least I can say I have! :)

Positive g-forces I am fine with, it's the negative g-forces that make me nauseous. Because of this, the rocking to and fro motion of the green side, without the benefit of being pushed back in my seat by the simulated Gs of the ride, would make me very unhappy for the rest of the day. On that one, I actually prefer the orange side.

To break it down, Star Tours and its simulated motion makes me feel far worse than Rockin' Roller Coaster.

I can't get enough of the intense ride. But I'm one who likes the more action filled attractions. I tried the less intense to see what it felt like and was soooo disappointed. But it's wonderful that theres that option for those guests who want to experience the attraction without the after effects of the centrifuge. So I'll answer the CM who asks, less or more intense? with, I'll take MORE INTENSE please.

I first rode the ride when there was only one option (I was about 14) and didn't get sick at all. In fact, I remember being quite bored on it and didn't get much of a thrill... actually I remember getting off and thinking, "that's it? really? I didn't feel anything!" lol I've never experienced motion sickness in my life, so maybe I just have a high tolerance. Anyway, fast forward to when the deaths started happening... although I initially found the ride boring, the "danger" got to my head and I haven't ridden orange since. I guess the mix of paranoia and hearing people's complaints have kept me away. I rode green once a few years ago and was really bored... but yet I can't get myself to try orange again after all the danger hype haha
