Can You Help My ADR Dilemma?

I wanted to see if someone could give me some advice to help fix a mistake I made with ADR's for my family's upcoming trip next month.

I'll be traveling with my wife, two older daughters, and a son under 3. When the 180 day mark came up for our vacation, I immediately made three ADR's: 'Ohana, Chef Mickey, and BOG. I didn't have much of a problem making any of these reservations. I made each reservation for 4 because I didn't think I needed to count my son.

Well, looking through some of the threads, I noticed a few people said that if every person isn't accounted for in a reservation (including babies), there could be a problem. So, last week I called Disney Dining and asked to switch all of our reservations from 4 to 5. They had no problem doing so for 'Ohana and Chef Mickey, but said they couldn't for BOG. The CM told me to try to book a new reservation online because they couldn't accommodate the one extra person for that ADR.

Does this seem strange to anyone? I keep trying to find a new ADR for BOG, but it's only a month away now, so the chances of snagging a new one are small. Should I just try to show up with my ADR for 4 and see what happens? Should I call Disney Dining again and see if the CM was wrong?

Any info would be a great help. Thanks!

I have ADR's all the time that have the wrong number of people on them. I have never been denied admittance even into a popular venue over a holiday (BOG and Thanksgiving) because I booked for 4 and we had 5 or I booked for 5 and we ended up at 3. When I check in I tell the host we had a last minute change. They have always accommodated us

Yep, that is what the resort concierge told us too. We had ressies and added another. She told us when we arrived just to tell them at check in there was 3 not 2.

BOG may be an issue just b/c of its insane popularity. It all boils down to fire codes, so every single head counts. While I haven't tried it at BOG, we were once turned down by Mama Melrose. We had family join us at the last minute and they refused to accommodate any more than the 6 on our ADR. Snagging BOG ADRs can be super tough, but I'd keep checking to try and bump up to a party of 5.

If you get a solution let us know. We booked 4 for bfast at CRT in Feb. a long time ago and know the MIL is coming and they told us they can't add another. We call almost everyday. Once it showed up online and I got all the names and credit card info to hit submit and Donald appeared and we lost it. Never done the castle in my 30 years so I don't really want to give it up.

Don't worry about it. If you have to, just have your on sit on your lap, then ask 5 minutes later for a high chair. I'm sure it won't be a problem

Hopefully they can accommodate you. 3 to 4 is easier than 4 to 5 as a table for three is actually a table for four. When you need five, it's actually a table for six. Hope it works out!

the problem with hold son and later asking for highchair, is space to put it at a table top for 4 to make 5. tables can be close so you can not put at end, with room for other table to leave their table. fire codes say where you can place highchairs and where you can not. if you just show up and say you have an extra person be prepared to wait longer for a larger table to come open.

High chair placement is not established by fire codes...maximum occupancy is.

That's why head count is an issue.

Also, there will be no issue putting high chairs say here:

In fact, here is a group of 5 adults with a high chair at one of the round tables.

Thanks for all of your responses. I've come to the following conclusion: should it be a problem? No. Could one CM end up making it a a problem? Possibly. I'll just keep looking for a new ressie just in case so that I don't have to stress ;)

I agree with telling the CM of the situation upon check-in. Worst case: Do you have a dog house you can move into when you get home?

We had the same situation a couple years ago with Le Cellier with me, my wife, my parents and our (almost) 3-year-old daughter. Leading up to the trip, I tried periodically to find one for 5 without success. The day of the reservation we showed up, when they confirmed "4 people", I said "Yes, and a two-year-old". They didn't even bat an eye. Probably thought I was a dumb tourist that couldn't count, but we didn't get turned away.

Do your due diligence and see if you can possibly snag a table for 5 ahead of time. If you can't, don't sweat it.

And we had the exact opposite happen when we showed up at Mama Melrose with 3 extra people. There were 10 of us altogether. They were very accommodating!
I would hold on to my BOG ressie for 4 and keep checking back for one for 5. But if one didn't open up then I would just show up and see what happens.
