I am going to Disney World in October with my family and the only person I have to hang with is my little brother. I hung with him last time we went and he went on everything except alien encounter, honey i shrunk the audience, and dinosaur. He went on Tower of terror after long convincing from me and nice cast members trying to help me out. He went on it and liked it but was still scared of it and because of that he only went on it 2 times when we could of went on it about 10 times. Anyway he said that he's not going on it when we go in October because he's scared at the part where it drops in the dark and you don't know when it's coming, I also think he's just scared of the ride. But if he doesn't go on then I'll have to go on by myself and that sucks and it's not as fun. Would anyone who went on tower of terror and liked it help me convince him to go on it!!! I would really appreciate it. Him and I would both be missing out on an awesome ride if he's afraid to go on it. Thanks!!!

He went on it 3 times, but doesn't want to go on it again? I think he doesn't like it! He certainly gave it a chance. Unless he has a change of heart between now & October, you'll just have to go it alone. You don't mention your ages; that could be a factor. (at certain ages, children can suddenly develop a dislike/fear of something they enjoyed previously)

Hmmm...I'm probably the wrong person to ask since I took myself to Disney and went on EVERYTHING by myself... Why do you think that would be less fun? It's not like you talk to someone during the ride. You can have your brother wait with you on line, and then use the last-minute escape when you get to the loading areas... If you go on cheerfully without him, he may change his mind and feel like he's missing out. If not, he's been on it before, he knows what it is like, and if he's that uncomfortable with the situation, he shouldn't have to go on. Go on by yourself! It's lots of fun. :)

I forgot to mention our ages. I'm 16 and my little brother is 13. I think that's a little young to be afraid of the dark, that's why I posted this post asking for help to convince him to go on tot.

Sorry dwl, my husband is 50 something, my daughter is 17, and I can't convince them to go on it. Maybe I have a chance with the 8 year old. (and I don't think they're afraid of the dark!) They just don't like the drop sensation, although they go on all of the coasters!

The only way I got the oldest to go on Splash Mountain again was to go on Space Mountain with her. You could try making a deal.

or......you could just take me! I go on everything! I'll even spend your money for you! And! I know the parks like the back of my eye lids, so no searching for atractions or running into huge crowds.....I know all the secrets. You really should consider taking me.......when its all over you could even take me home and show me off like I was a giant Disney plush souvineir and everyone would want one of me.......So should I start packing?

dwl, i would agree with you that 13 is a bit old to be afraid of the dark. i suggest taunting him unmercifully until you shame him into going on the ride.

when you get to the tower of terror, try running around him in circles while flapping your arms and clucking like a chicken. stick with it for at least 20 minutes. that way you'll wear down his resistance.

if that doesn't work, switch to a baby voice and cry real loud, mocking him by saying, "i don't wanna go on the scary elevator! i want my teddy bear! my diaper is wet! waaaahhhhh!" roll on the ground with your legs in the air and ask strangers to change you. don't be surprised if other wdw guests and maybe even mickey mouse himself join you in ridiculing your brother.

there's a slight chance he might continue to hold out. if that somehow happens, why not use this as an opportunity to make new friends while waiting in line by yourself? unless it's some creepy middle-age guy from, say, i don't know...liverpool, england, you might meet some cool people. that's better than waiting in line with someone who doesn't want to be there.

good luck. ;)

I made a mistake. My bro is 12 and he is not afraid of the dark. He just doesn't like when you drop in pitch black not knowing when it will drop. He said that it hurt his lap because the bar is usually about 6in away from his lap. See ya

I dont see how a lap bar could possibly be so low that it would bother a 12 year old. I'm 17 and 6'2" and I know what low lap bars can be like. but I laways have plenty of room to spare on ToT. I have enough room to come out of my seat about 5"(sweet air time!).

If my son is an indicator, the lap bar is too high/far away, so he builds up speed and hits it harder than someone bigger would!

That had happened to me once.... a fat guy was seating next to me, so the bar was far from me...when we began to fall I was standing up the whole ride! Not a very nice sensation if you ask me... it has been the only time I didn´t enjoy ToT.... the rest of the many times, I loved it!

Does your brother ride RnRC? Just curious... I don´t find Space Mountain too scary, for me it is just a rough ride, but I find RnRC very exciting!

Anyways... let him live! If he doesn´t want to go on ToT... let him stay... not everybody handles emotions the same, and he already tried and decided he doesn´t like it. My dad doesn´t like fast rides and we begged him once a looong time ago, to ride that train next to Splash Mountain (never remember the name!!) and we feared for him to make it to the end of the ride..... Make some friends in the queu and ride with them! Then, buy the pic so your brother sees how much you enjoyed it! Maybe he will change his mind by himself... ;)

Wen my little brother was 7 in 99 he went on everything he could incluiding RNRC and TOT. He doesnt like the dark or Drops but he still like TOT. When we went to DLP this year he is now 9 he got to the front of the INdy que and changed his mind about going on.

In the 2 years he seemed to develope a fear and i dont no why. He loved RNRC but was scaredof Indy. He also hates Splash Mounatin as he dont like the dropping sensation (that is 1 thing i hate i dont mind loops but hate drops)

Young 1's r strange how they like somethin 1 minute and hate it the next

Isn't there a single rider seat on ToT? Maybe then the bar (or whatever restraint is used) could be just for him and make him feel more comfortable. I may be thinking of another ride though...

And to be honest with you, I have been on ToT a couple of times in the past without problems but lately I have been too scared to go on it for some reason and I am not even 12...just wimpy. ;)

I agree with Goofy. I too was completely fearless as a child. I then developed a motion sickness due to the dropping sensation of some rides. It soon turned into a fear of heights.

I loved ToT when it had one drop, and I could tolerate two. I just don't feel comfortable with repeated drops. I don't find it scary or consider myself to be "chicken", I just find some rides beyond my limit. In fact, at Disney Quest, I usually spend most of the day at Cyberspace Mountain, bypassing the creating of a coaster, and asking the operator to send me on the "scariest coaster you have". I have created coasters that left the operators speechless. By the way, this is coming from the same person who FELL ASLEEP on Test Track.

Just don't pressure him. Pressure just makes the nervousness worse. Make the offer and don't get mad if he says no. One of my sisters pressured me into going on Rock n Roller Coaster twice. I "chickened out" both times, one of the times I was hyperventilating. When my other sister took me on the ride, she asked me once when we got in line if I was sure I would be ready. The line was short, so I took that time to relax, not talking at all during the wait. As we got on, she checked to make sure I was still ok, which I was. After we got off, we went back and did it again
