Can you add a discount?

We are looking at booking a cruise in combination with our upcoming trip to wdw (that part is already booked), we are wondering if we book now and a special rate or deal becomes available for the cruise we are booking (dream in September!) can we apply it? Or is there no changing rates offer a booking?

For the most part rates are locked in when you book. The paid-in-full date is 75 days prior to sailing. This begins the penalty phases. If you are outside the 75 days you can cancel/rebook without penalty. If you are inside the 75 days which is when discounts typically release you have to do the math to figure out if its worthwhile to pay the penalty to cancel then rebook under the discount. Sometimes it IS worth it to pay the penalty. Just run the numbers to see.

The only exception to this that I know if is FL resident rates. A FL resident discount can be applied to an existing reservation inside the penalty phase and the penalty is waived. Personally, I think they should do this with military rates, too. They can't do it for everyone, though. Understandable.

Its a gamble sometimes with booking. If you wait the rates could go up and there's never a guarantee there will be discounts. But if you go ahead and book you could end up kicking yourself for not waiting. I gambled and waited for a September Fantasy booking last summer. It was SO hard and I stressed SO much. Tammy will attest to that! In the end, my discount gamble worked but it truly was a gamble. Even closer to sailing after I booked there were additional discounts for our sailing released that were less than I paid. I didn't switch, tho.
