Can we just hit the parks?

Okay...I'm trying to think through arrival day. I want to get to DHS as soon as humanly possible after landing at MCO. I forgot we get our Magic Bands in advance of the trip, so I thought we had to check in at the hotel to get those before we could hit the parks. But, now that I remember we get our Magic Bands beforehand, can we just get off the DME bus, and leave carry-on stuff at the hotel and go? Or do I have to check in before I can leave our carry on stuff there? If our room is ready when we get there, can I even leave my stuff with the baggage people, or do I actually have to take it up to the room?

Unfortunately the resort has to activate them at check in for use of your tickets, room key, etc. It only takes a few minutes though. :)

Actually, it depends on *how* you have tickets.

If you have a package reservation where the tickets are part of the reservation, then yes, you have to at least visit the front desk when you reach the hotel to check in and get the tickets activated. (Though if your room is ready you don't have to go to the room. You could turn around, drop your carryon bags with Bell Services and run for the park buses)

But if you've purchased the tickets separately from the reservation (online from Disney, from your local Disney Store, from a ticket reseller, etc) and linked them to your MDE profile, then they are good to go right away. You can head to the parks and use your Bands to enter and start using your FP+. (But the *other* uses for the Band, like room charging or your room keys won't work until you check into the hotel)

Be sure to do Online check in to speed the process when you are actually on the property, that will help in getting you on your way to DHS that much quicker. You can do this up to 60 days in advance with the My Disney Experience application. Have a great time!!! Marie

Depending on where you're staying, you don't even have to "check in" anymore... I know Port Orleans is the guinea pig for bypassing the front desk completely by using Online Check-In, MDE, and a Magic Band.

I think the OP is staying at the Wilderness Lodge, as per the signature line, which is not one of the hotels scheduled for this test unfortunately. Marie
