Can Universal expand??

They have a penchant at Universal for replacing rides rather than adding rides, i'm just wondering do Universal have alot of space to play with in the Orlando area? The tight small way they built Harry Potter land, instead of spacing it out a little more, and expanding it leaves me to believe their space is tight.

You look at the Disney area, and they have a mammoth amount of space available to expand in every corner. With Universal i noticed they do have some residential neighbourhoods and public roads really close to it.

Have just always been curious.

Universal certainly doesn't have the luxury of land that Disney does, but with relocating certain backstage areas and innovative land use, Universal can expand. It just will not be as easy as some of the area that Disney may be considering. In fact there is a staging area across from IOA that has been the speculation of an upcoming expansion, and some backstage areas are destined to become a Harry Potter expansion plot soon.

Wizarding World seems small because of where they chose to put it. They could have built an entire Potter park south of IOA if they REALLY wanted to. That land is there, whenever they decide to use it. The parks still have room to expand as well, but only in certain places.

In IOA, Seuss Landing and Jurassic Park both have spots for another attraction. They could also do something with Toon Lagoon's vacant theater and the area around it.

USF has a GIANT expansion plot behind World Expo. Enough space for multiple E-tickets or another themed land. They'd have to move the HHN storage tents and the fireworks bunker though. Soundstage 44 and the Fear Factor theater are also waiting for new attractions.

Frankly I view their less amount of land as a blessing to many theme park enthusiasts.

Do not get me wrong, I am sad when attractions I love and I consinder classics are torn down for something different and not always better in my opinion, but at the same time with Universal's Orlando property it is more comparable to Disneyland. It forces them to keep things fresh and not lack in upkeep. It is a win for the fans.

^ Very true. As we have seen in Disneyland, sometimes it is the lack of room that can be a blessing - because every attraction has to count, and there's no room for flops.

That said, Universal has very limited land, making expansion in most areas difficult, but their development of what little land they have has been very, very smart.

Got a little bored so I thought I would add some pics to look at here

Green is IOA
Red is US
Blue has become apartments, don't ask me why universal did that
Purple stars (sorry needed an icon) are currently empty or seasonally operating buildings that they could redo before expanding
Yellow are backstage service areas, sound stages, and offices that if they felt like re organizing could theoretically hold expansions or even another park, although if they didn't do that for potter i cant see them making a whole new park.

I don't think you can see them when aboard Jaws.

Nope, you can't. At least as far as I can tell from what is being done over there.

What it will change though is how much pyro and such can be used for events such as Halloween Horror Nights in the Bill and Ted show that uses the amphitheater there. In Bill and Ted's show last year HHN's show writers even poked fun at that fact by putting it into the show's script. It is a shame greed can cause such things.

Have you ridden JAWS since they were built?? Were you not looking during the first scene where one of the boats is sinking and the captain uses his gun to shoot at the shark? They are very visible when looking to the right.
