Can someone tell me how EE was announced?

Long before construction began, how did Disney announce the project? Was it big? I moved here in 2004 and steel work was already underway. It is topical to remind me and everyone how big news is announced in reality.

They had a big DAK anniversary celebration, and at the end of it a big mountain came up with Goofy on it, and then they started talking about Expedition Everest.

I know because I was there!

The announcement EpcotServo mentioned was the official glitzy one, but the REAL announcement came from the big man himself, Michael Eisner. He let it out during the company shareholder meeting. Hadn't the rumor about the forbidden mountain been circulating for a good bit of time before Eisner broke the news at the shareholder meeting?

I would love to know if their were rumors prior to. It just goes to update how rumors come true or not. If there are any threads prior to Eisner's announcement I would love to see them. Hmmm?

That is cool, makes me take a little more stock in some of the rumors on here depending on the source.
