Can somebody please answer a question for me?

Hi,

This is my first post, I'm sorry if it has already been discussed but I've been looking around for a little while now.

I was just wondering if there are always races around Halloween time? I've never been to WDW before, I'm looking to hopefully go next year! I love the look of Run Disney but I don't think I would be going until next October, I know there is one this year but I couldn't see any mention of next.

I'm not really a good runner, I haven't been doing it for very long so I'd only be looking for a 5K ideally but would be willing to do a bit more if there wasn't one.

the major one is held in january and its called the wdw marathon. they have a disney princess one in i believe February. the others are special events the vary year to year: for example expedition everest , tower of terror, etc. i would go to the run disney site for the list of events and dates. this is also where you sign up, pay your fees, and get all the info you need to know. BTW GOOD LUCK!!!!

the marthon weekend is almost full , but if you get signed up in the next couple of weks you might have a shot at geting in.. , i guess the reason being that its the 20th anniversy this year... and every body is making a new years resolutions eary this year of runing and staying fit , but like mentioned they do have race thought out the year. like everest challange is in may.. , princess half is in feb. and then they have the wine and dine half , then they the one coming up thats been sold out for a while .. the tower of terror 10 miler ( use to be the tower of terror 13 k.. ) , but yes they tdo have 5 k , like the hollween 5k , and then they have the festia family fun run..

Also, there are no October races right now...they may change the dates in the future though.

The fall races may very well change dates next year. They shifted them around this year, and may do the same next year as well. I still think the only reason the ToT race is the weekend it is was to placate the people who had already booked their travel for that weekend based off the initial W&D half dates.

I ran the TOT race when it was a 13K in mid-October 2009. Maybe it will go back to that time slot next year?

Very inspiring, you made me want to do the next one but I've got quite a bit of training to do for a 5k nevermind a marathon! lol

Hopefully what dreamfinder said above is true...they had previously announced the ToT dates as the dates for the W&D, then announced that ToT was taking place that weekend instead. It seems like it would make sense to have the ToT weekend closer to Halloween, especially since the 5K during the ToT weekend is called the Happy Haunted 5K (or something)...so maybe you'll get lucky in 2013!
