Can off site Guest visit us at our Resort (parking?)

We are in Disney starting Wednesday for Marathon weekend and have some old friends that are going to come by and visit. They live nearby and not staying onsite so disney transportation will not work.
We are staying at Boardwalk Inn and they are just coming over for an hour or two to grab something to eat/drink and walk around the Boardwalk.
Reading some of the parking rule threads I am wondering if they will be able to park and visit us.
They live about 45 minutes away so a cab would be to expensive for a short visit.

Does anyone an experience with someone visiting them at the resort and the parking situation. Can they give our room # name and the guard would let them park for a short visit?

We have had local friends visit us before without difficulty; they simply told the guard they were visiting us. Boardwalk has the advantage of the overflow/cast lot across the street in case the main lot is full when your friends arrive.

Boardwalk can be hit or miss. In general, you'll be allowed to park without any trouble. Sometimes exceptions come up during Flower and Garden, Food and Wine, or if there's a major convention at the BW itself.

Never had a problem with guests visiting at CR. We make arrangements at the Front Desk and never had a problem.

Yeah they'll be fine. We've gone to the Boardwalk many times just to walk around or grab something to eat and never had an issue parking. Even though they're having races this weekend, I don't see it being an issue.

Sorry for the bump, I did not want to start a new thread so I did a search and found this one.

I am coming down on a Sunday towards the end of the month and staying off site a few days for a work conference. That Thursday we will check into Coronado Springs. When I am staying off site, I want to visit Epcot and enter the back entrance. I have only parked here once and that was when I was staying on site. I don't remember scanning a MB at a gate. Can I park at the lot across the street from the Boardwalk with no issues? It will be a Sunday and maybe Wed during Food and Wine Festival.

It works and also Swan/Dolphin as I recall has very open parking. I don't remember much of a "gate experience" though my memory may be faulty.
