I know u have to be at least fourty inches to take this ride. How strict are they about the height limitation. I've a 4 yr old and is 39.5 inches. Would he be allowed in the ride?? I've heard it's quite scary but he's really fascinated by them. Any personal experience with kids height limitations even in the other park rides. Do they let 0.5 to 1 inch differance go??

Is there someone upfront in each ride to tell u about the kids height qualifications or do u have to stand in the line and wait for your turn. What if someone waited 40min. and when it was their turn to go in found out they can't take that one. :brick: That would be a waste of time...

There are signs, measuring sticks and cast members even before entering the queue however, even if you get past all that and the cast member loading guests determines that a guest does not meet the height requirement then he/she will not be allowed to ride.

They check height at the entrance to Stand By and Fastpass lines. If the line extends out past the main line entrance [on very busy days, it happens], you should check height before entering the line. Then, as an example, if your little one hasn't passed the height for a ride with a 40" restriction, the guides have the restrictions listed, so once they've been rejected for a specific height, avoid rides that are restricted to that height or higher...

If you "try" every time on rides they're "close" on, you're just increasing the odds of disappointment.

Also, keep in mind. Last year on Primevil Whirl (sp?), DS5 passed the height at the entrance, BUT when we got to the loading zone they decided to remeasure him and he BARELY did not pass there. So, he didn't get to ride. I approached the CM's at the entrance and told them what happened. I noticed at this time that the measuring stick they were using had something taped to the bottom where the child's head would touch. I'm certain this was the difference.

My point is, if you notice something like this at the entrance to a ride (modifications to the height stick), and your child just passes, to be aware they may re-measure him/her at the loading zone and him/her not pass.

DS5 was very disappointed! But, what can you do?

 Hi. Disneygirl11: its real hard to read your messages. that color is too light. anyway, if he cant ride the Dinosaur ride, that give you an excuse to come back again when he is taller!! Yaaay!! go to UOE and dinoland and the boneyard. have a magical trip!!!:sohappy:

Sorry, I'll use darker colors and bold them.... I don't know why but I like using colors when I write. :)

Colours are fine! But I too was thrown by your other post, the only reason I knew there was text there was because the smiley at the end was so far down the post [I then dragged through the post to highlight it and could read it that way]. I'm an old colour-blind guy and I didn't see anything.

Just curious...are you measuring him with or without shoes? Shoes do count in the height equation so you are not cheating or endangering your son. If you are measuring him without he just might be tall enough when you put s them on.

I completely understand the need to be concerned for safety but a standing measurement seems a bit unfair if you are going to be sitting down. Case in point: My daughter, who was just tall enough to get onto Splash, was an inch taller than her brother while standing up. But when sitting down, both are the exact same height from crown to rump. Since all of the height restricted rides are sit-down attractions, a sit-down measurement seems to be the most appropriate way to go. If a sit-down measurement was adopted, 1" heals would be irrelevant (though padded britches would become the rage!)

As for the appropriateness of Dinosaur, my son--who eventually crossed the magical 40" mark--rode Dinosaur at age 3 1/2! He loves dinosaurs and even though I explained to him over and over how scary the ride was, he was determined to go. Several people in line--including a young woman in near tears due to her fear of the ride--remarked how young he was to be riding. Since he was determined to go, I told him that our vehicle would be faster than the dinosaurs and that no one ever gets hurt at Disney. He made it through like a champ. Though when I asked him if he wanted to go again, he said, "Not right now." Since then, he's been on it several times and he just turned four. This kid also loves ToT. That's my boy! :king:

I can tell you from personal experience that Disney is very strict about height measurements. I remember one time that my daughter was measured 5 times by 5 different CM’s before we got on to Mission Space! We had to laugh about it, because she kept telling the CM, that she just rode it yesterday and she didn’t shrink! However, don’t be so quick in thinking that you son won’t make the height requirement. Measure him at the ride before you get in line. We had one experience when my oldest daughter measured up for Star Tours, but didn’t make the cut for Body Wars (she was wearing the same shoes for both). We also had a experience in which we measured our daughter at home, thinking she would not make the Rockin Roller Coaster, but just a few days later at Disney, she make the measurement by at least a ½ inch.

BTW, my daughter rode Dinosaur when she was about 4 1/2 and she thought it was fun! I think kids that age have less fear than older kids.

Disney has implemented a new thing to avoid the remeasurement hastle, at least at EE. They okay'ed my daughter at the entrance and then stamped her hand. Twice along the way, other CMs questioned her heighth but took one look at her stamp and waved us on.

They also did something nice for my son who was just shy of being tall enough. They gave him a special pass to bring back when he meets the requirement. It's the equivalent of a FP for our entire family. He was still upset at not being tall enough but at least he had something as a consolation.

That sounds like they've come up with two great ideas!

The cynic in me says any day now they'll have copies of the "tall enough" stamp for sale on E-Bay and people sending their too-short kids to get measured [and act disappointed] every chance they get in order to get extra entire family FPs...

I know it would be easy enough to have a whole bunch of different stamps and different ink colours to make it almost impossible to be able to cheat, but you know people will try.
