Can I wear a Tower of Terror castmember Bellhop Uniform in front of WDW hotels?

So years ago I purchased an actual former castmembers uniform from the Tower of Terror. I know that WDW parks will NOT allow people to dress in real or even similar costumes to actual uniforms worn by castmates. I would like to video people's reactions to having a TOT bellhop opening their hotel door for them. Is there a policy barring this? Has anyone else tried this? I figure the worse that can happen is that the hotel may ask me to leave the premise.

Don’t the hotels have self opening doors? Some have CMs there to meet people too.

I’m not sure what they would do if you were just standing by the door. But I think specifically videoing guests would be a problem; if anyone complained you could find yourself in trouble - especially if children were involved.

Good thoughts to consider. If you are simply opening/standing by the door however, and comply with any requests by the hotel or the guests and get permission to use any video taken of people coming through the door, then I would not see what you might be in trouble for. Any interaction other than perhaps saying "welcome," would at the request of guests. Certainly people take videos without permission containing other guests at the parks. It is indeed difficult not to take video containing others at Disney. I would guess that the majority of guests might like the chance to interact and take photos with someone wearing a TOT castmember uniform.

I’m pretty sure Disney never sells their cast member uniforms to the public. So that is very likely stolen merchandise somewhere along the line. Even if you bought it legitimately. I wouldn’t go anywhere near Disney property with that.
I have no idea how/why the former cast member retained the uniform. I see Cast member uniforms offered on Ebay, auction sites, and even outlets in the Orlando area occasionally and again I really dont know the story of how that happens. I did happen to know a former Disney Wardrobe dept worker, and she examined the costume and said it was authentic, although she said they have RFID tags sewn in, and she did not feel one in the uniform that I have. She told me that the uniforms are scanned when leaving/entering wardrobe and thus the Disney knows when the uniforms exit the wardrobe dept.

That’s a good point. As far as I know CMs cannot keep their costumes. So the costume that OP bought is either stolen, as you say, or a skilful reproduction.

Time for a reality check.

Even if the costume is not authentic it is recognizable as ToT bellhop. The first CM at any resort who sees you will either report you to a manager or ask you to leave. Not sure how you plan to video, but that will set off alarm bells of those around you that something unusual is going on. You will never get an “authentic reaction” from a guest unless they are completely unaware of being videoed.

But you will have already been asked to leave before then anyway.

You would guess wrong.

Oh, I have no doubt it's authentic. And I assume whoever "retained" it took out the RFID tag. I mean, it's a cool item for your collection. But you have to know it was likely taken or retained without permission. So I'd keep it under wraps. I have just recently seen a few pieces of Disney wardrobe for sale on Ebay. I'm sure those are stolen or "retained" without permission as well.

Standing at the door welcoming guests and opening the door would look like you were a Disney CM thats working that resort. It would be inappropriate for you to do anything that makes a guest think you have a position with Disney at the resort when you dont. Disney would remove you and rightly so because they would be liable if they didnt and there was any unknown incident that occurred involving you on their property.
Just as I couldnt wear a police officers uniform and perform any duty they would, you cant portray yourself as a CM.

So, you've admitted to purchasing stolen property?
