Can I leave the Carousel of Progress during the show?

This is Disney world.. and I don't want my share of the magic ruined by someone who isn't thinking about anyone but themselves..

again.. did I hear the Haunted Mansion mentioned? No.. or Dumbo? no..

or Splash Mountain? no.

but because, some one feels that they can just up and leave because their kid can't behave, means that they shouldn't be on the ride in the first place..

You know your kid.. if it doesn't behave.. don't take it on this ride.. period.

go some where to a different ride..

but don't even start to PLAN TO WALK OUT, and ruin my time. because Disney is too expensive to have my time ruined by your attitude and actions..
meaning that YOU ALREADY KNOW YOUR KID IS A PROBLEM..

fine.. then don't go on the ride..

see this is one of those Maelstrom ride attitudes.. meaning lets ride the boat and push our way through and not watch the film.. because WE CAN..

you are already planning this.. and if YOU NEED TO PLAN FOR IT, You allready know the answer.. Its a no go..

see that's where your ego and arrogance overrules .. that you know that there is a problem but you are going to DO IT ANYWAYS.. and then mess with me and my family..

no.. if you have to ask.. YOU KNOW THE ANSWER.. don't go on the ride..

Actually, if you took the time to read the OP you would see that they were asking about the possibility of leaving the ride in case her young children began to act up during CoP. So, they were simply asking on the pretext of being considerate to others in the attraction. They didn't say their kids would be an issue, quite the opposite. But they wanted to know if it was possible to leave just in case it was necessary.

Try taking the time to read the posts before going off on some hyperbole-laden rant.

Sounds like someone is having a bad day.....

I was just going to ignore your post but I couldn't. All children have temper tantrums at one point or another and you can't always predict when it is going to happen. This doesn't mean they are a problem. The OP is asking so he can avoid ruining the ride for everyone else should his children start to misbehave. Although, I'd think that most people would understand that children are children and sometimes they misbehave. It has nothing to do with being arrogant or having an ego. Seems to me that you are the only one in this thread with the ego. Get over yourself.

(need to add a little more)

You are right, I did not mention leaving spash moutain or the haunted mansion during the ride because I know it isn't possible to do so, I believe I already said that.

And I wouldn't be getting up and leaving because I was bored with the show, quite the contrary, I LOVE the Carousel of Progress, and I want to take my kids on it. I don't think I'm really being that ambiguous here. The ONLY reason I would want to make an early exit is IF my kids throw a tantrum (which I don't expect), I wouldn't want to be inconsiderate to someone else while they are screaming. I've said this MANY times now.

Of course people can skip the movie after Maelstrom. The CMs will even speil that if people don't want to stay for the movie they may continue through the open doors before the movie starts.

I think you may be getting a bit worked up over nothing.

Wow,

Somebody needs to take a break from Christmas shopping at the malls

CoP is a LOT like a theater attraction. In a theater attraction, there is nothing wrong with leaving early if you have to, especially if you sit on the end of a row. Sometimes kids can act up, thats what kids do. When mine were young, they were good 98% of the time, but sometimes you never know.

The OP wanted to know, IF her kids acted up, would she have the option to leave CoP early, or would doing so cause some sort of problem.

I also fail to see the problem with skipping the Malestrom film. I usually watch it because I am part Norwegian, but at times I skip it as well. Last I checked, I was not ruining anyones else's day by doing so.

i am not sure you can leave COP but it is more like a ride than a show. you are moving. sure in emerg you can get out but you could be back stage. as an example, you remove your child. you aie now back stage how are you going to get back to your strolleras you come out in another area. something to think about as the back stage areas may not have as much lighting as main walkways.

My take? There is absolutely nothing in CoP that is geared toward or interesting to a 20 month old for 23 minutes.

Don't take them on.

and that's my point exactly.. go and do something else.. and its not selfish in the least.. but you have a room FULL of people.. and now a ride should stop and be totally reset because you , who already know that there may be a problem, has a problem with your kid..

no.. Don't ruin the room's full of magic because you already know the answer.. and its not sour grapes or anything else..

what this thread is a JUSTIFICATION so that you can pull something that you know that YOU SHOULD NOT DO..

that was the purpose of this thread.. Hey I want to do something THAT I SHOULD NOT DO.. is it okay..

simple answer..

No..

and no one should back you or poo poo you.. You knew it was already a problem before you posted.. its the justification that you want..

no.. sorry.. but No.. there is no justification for this..

just go on a different ride.. its no big deal.. but don't ruin that ride for me or the rest of the people in that room.

Did you read the original post? I asked the question because I didn't know the answer. Nowhere was I looking for justification to do something that I knew was wrong....I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS WRONG, THAT'S WHY I ASKED!!!

And why do you say that i knew it was a problem before I posted. I my mind, it's not all that different from a standard movie, so I asked because I DIDN'T know how the rules apply to this particluar attraction.

Then you come up with all this 'arrogance' and 'ego' nonsense. Where in the WORLD do you get that from??? Are you an overemotional teenager or something? The posts you have been making make little sense.

Don't tell me what the purpose of this post was, and don't tell me "you knew it was wrong before you asked", because that's completely untrue. You just REALLY want to pick a fight for some strange reason.

Apparently reason doesn't work with you. So here's the alternative:

Try READING THE ACTUAL POST before putting up some incoherent drivel that makes you look like nothing more than a moronic prat. I don't care if I get banned for this, but your posts in this thread have been nothing more than infantile and imbecilic. They weren't asking for your personal approval or disapproval, they were simply trying to garner opinions about the CoP and if it was possible to leave the attraction SHOULD, not when, their child act up. In short, they were trying TO BE CONSIDERATE of others, unlike yourself.

Why don't you go back and give newlyweds advice on driving to WDW for their honeymoon? Because after all, that worked out so well for you in the end.....

I understand now. I looked into bjlc57's previous posts. I think I've figured it out. Either bjlc57 got hit in the head by a cannonball flying ove his head in Pirates of the Caribbean or maybe went over the waterfall in the Malestrom because it used to come out WAY farther than it does now.

Both of those things are true....at least according to bjlc57.

Ignoring the chaos of the rest of the thread.... No I don't think you can leave during CoP. On my last trip, two guys in the front row got up to leave but someone on the intercome came on and told them to remain seated. But they ignored it and left anyways, and the ride was obviously E-stopped because the theater didn't move and the scene started over again. It was so bizaare.

I believe it would be a VERY BAD IDEA to leave during the show. As Tigger stated, they do tell you to NOT use the exit doors and to remain seated for the entire show. As the theater does rotate when the scenes change, there is the possibility of being CRUSHED if your try to exit and the theater begins to rotate. There are also sensors that are supposed to stop the ride if someone does stand up in the theater (whether they work or not I do not know), which I believe happened once while I was on the ride and the theater came to a grinding halt while rotating.

I did some research on this for a presentation regarding America Sings (same ride system at DL). Short story, it's pretty much impossible to be crushed. Only location for such a problem would be the walls between the theaters as they rotate. Leaning or being near the left hand wall is the prime location and where a CM did die at DL, but significant safety precautions have been added (break away walls, more motion detectors for that area, etc).

CoP only has video cameras in the theaters. There are sensors to prevent rotation if anyone is very close to the sets, and sensors that'll shut off and alert the CMs if anyone tries to get onto the sets. Beyond that CoP doesn't have much else in the way of safety features.

The exits are there for emergencies, but like most of those kinds of doors, they aren't hooked up to an emergency alert system. One can, and people do, exit the theater during shows incase of problems.

I'd say if your child is crying and obviously going to interrupt the remainder of the show, leave, but if there's a risk of it, don't ride. I don't have problems with people leaving CoP if there's crying, someone's hurt, lost, or whatever. I don't think people getting up and leaving CoP because it's too long, too boring, or that their fastpass is now active.

I would just like to add that on the opposite side of what the bjlc57 was posting.

The original poster did not know for sure if you were able to do this or not, that is why the topic was made in the first place.

I would actually like to commend the original poster because it shows that:

1. they are considerate enough to care for their child.

2. They are considerate enough to wonder about the rules rather than go and try and do any harm.

3. In reality they are thinking of others not having to listen to a scared or bothered child interfere with the show.

So I would like to do the opposite and thank the poster for inquiring and being selfless on a few levels.
