Can I get a free Park Hopper with that?

This will only be in place for the Disney Magic cruises from NY to the Bahamas...I guess if they keep that as a permanent itinerary it could work...

How long is the ship going to be docked? The blog says you can visit all 4 parks, but by the time you get off the ship, get on the bus (hopefully no traffic) and to the park how much time will you have left? Unless you want to just go from one park to the other to say you did it, I don't see this being the greatest idea. I would rather stay on the coast and check out the Kennedy Space Center or find something else in the area.

I was under the impression this is an add after the cruise is over and guests have disembarked. Am I missing something?

You could be right and I may have just read it wrong. I was going under the assumption that because it is the 8 day Bahamian cruise leaving from NY, that the one day ticket would be good for the day the Magic is in Port Canaveral for the day.

Something doesn't look right...how can France be on the far left?

It's part of the cruise itinerary when they are docked in Port Canaveral. You can do a park visit.

Here is the itinerary for the 8 night cruise:

1 New York, New York — 4 p.m.
2 At Sea — —
3 At Sea — —
4 Nassau 9:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
5 Castaway Cay 8:15 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
6 Port Canaveral, Florida 6:15 a.m. 12:00 a.m. --- you would visit WDW on this day
7 At Sea — —
8 At Sea — —
9 New York, New York 8:30 a.m.

FYI - most Port Canaveral Disney Cruises begin AND end at Port Canaveral. They get you off the boat by 9am at the latest, and then don't let you begin boarding again until 11am with usually no access to your stateroom until after 1:30 as they are turning the ship over.

I guess that's the whole purpose of giving them this ticket: to prevent them from doing something else and instead head over to WDW and spend money there.

The hopper and the transportation are certainly already priced into the cruise price anyway - those itineraries were pretty expensive to start with. So it isn't exactly "free" anyway...

I can't fault them for trying to make more money, but for me it doesn't seem worth it. By the time you get to WDW I just feel like half the day will be gone.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I really think Disney has a golden opportunity here to add resort stay packages as part of a cruise deal using the Magical Express. This could create an incentive for guests to extend their WDW vacations and encourage cruise sales. It could really work hand in hand. Perhaps they already do this and I just have not heard of it. The idea of easy transportation between areas and your luggage being delivered in either direction and waiting for you seems like a tough deal to pass up.

Imagine leaving the ship and handing your luggage over and then free transportation to your WDW resort with your luggage brought directly to your room. Works the other way around to if you stay at WDW and then travel to Port Canaveral.

Seems like these deals could sell themselves.

They used to bundle, and sell and advertise, DCL land and sea vacations.

They were either 3 night land and 4 night sea, or 4 night land and 3 night sea. You even had the same KTTW card for both land and sea.

The issue was that you did not get any discount on the land portion, and you were locked into the number of nights on land. At one point, the resorts you could chose were determined by the stateroom category that you chose.

Now you can add pre or post WDW resort stays to your DCL vacation, but you pay for the port to WDW transfers. If you book it through DCL, you still get no discount on the WDW portion.

I believe part of the issue is that WDW and DCL are separate business units. When they did the combined land and sea vacations, DCL had to pay WDW to block out rooms in the resorts for the packages. If they didn't sell, there were empty rooms.

Another issue is that if you do this packaged, you don't normally leave the resort until noon or after. Most savvy DCL travelers know that by getting to the ship early, 11am or so, you can maximize your time on the ship.

Finally, most, but not all, agree that it is best to do the WDW part of a combined trip first, and then the more relaxing cruise.

I could see that by offering a free 1 day park ticket or free transfers that this could lure some to book these packages.

If the ship docks at 6:15 a.m. you could easily be on a bus by 7:00-7:30 a.m. then it's about a 1 hour and 15 minute ride to Magic Kingdom from Port Canaveral, maybe add another 30 for traffic, making it 1:45, you would still be there before 9:00 a.m.
So, how does this equate to being half the day being gone?

Sounds like a winner to me. I would love to do this, if only...

They already do this.. and is very very common (since people are traveling to FL to get to the boat)

This blog post is just about an EXCURSION (aka mid-cruise) for the itineraries that have a stop over at Port Canaveral instead of the ones that start/stop at Port Canaveral.

It's called the Resort Add-on..or 'Land/Sea' packages.. and yes, Disney handles all the transfers.

When you do a Land/sea deal.. it's basically just Magical Express for everything. If you are doing cruise only, you have to pay for the ground transfer ($70/head)

On checkout day.. which included picking up luggage, etc.. I was in Universal by 9:30 in the morning after our cruise.

It's really only about an hour drive (probably a bit more for a bus) but you would get door to door service.. which cuts a lot of time.

The transfers are still paid for, they aren't free, they are just rolled into the total land/sea pricing.

Wow...that is photoshopped to such an extent one could consider sueing for misleading advertising.

I posted something about them rearranging Epcot on the site under comments...wouldn't you know it...they did not approve of my post.

Hey Disney...don't like being called out on poor Photoshopping? Get somebody to do it that knows the parks!

edit: after a re-wording...they let it stay!
