I had a Fuji once (got it for free) and I hated it. It took AA batteries and they lasted for not very long (I mean, less than an hour, and I tried all different kinds of batteries). My first was a Nikon Coolpix 995 which I then decided was too bulky and took a big step down to the Canon Powershot S230 Elph. I just bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 which is a semi-SLR. 6mp, 12x optical zoom, aperture priority, shutter priority, a number of special shooting modes, almost a B setting (shutter open up to 60 seconds), etc. It even comes with a lens hood! Only $277 from Beach Camera.
