Camera Center is Gone...

Yup. Like I said, they even had Kodak Disc Cameras back in the day.

A Kodak disk was my first camera as a kid! Ah, memories.

That looks so cool. As humanity races forward at breakneck speed i often ask myself. "What have we done?"
In principle, it was cool! A thin, flat cartridge with a thick, non-curled film base (which should mean a nice, flat negative). In practice however, it was pretty horrible. For one, you only had 15 shots... But worse, the negatives were sooooo tiny (8x10mm); the image quality was horrendous. Worse, few places made the investment to develop it properly (or at all). It more often than not had to be sent to Kodak for developing, meaning a turnaround of several days as opposed to 24hrs.

If it's any comfort, the negatives were so tiny that picture quality was very poor. I had a 110 camera on my first trip to Walt Disney World - it was about the same quality as disc. Oh do I wish I had better quality photos from that first visit.

Ugh, another format that deserved its death (but hung around way too long). My mom loved her 110 camera... Absolutely horrible quality though.

I did mess around with APS-C when they first came out. Like the Disc and 110 cameras - it was positively tiny... Also crap.

Ooh. I forgot about APS. That came out right around the time I stopped working at a photo lab and camera store.

You definitely didn't miss anything, LOL. It had a lifespan even shorter than 110. One of the "benefits" is that the negatives stayed in the cartridge... Good luck storing those, and they were never flat. Worse, it was a crop of 35mm to begin with, but the fake "panorama" mode chopped it down even more. Like 110 and Disc, the quality was atrocious. That said, my lil' Canon APS-C camera was kinda cool in how small it was.

Go figure, here we are today and the point and shoot market is essentially non-existent, replaced by smartphones. Even the venerable DSLR is going the way of the dodo.

I’m looking at a very early Magic Kingdom map - looks like a coloring book page already filled in. No date on it, the title is “A Guide to the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World” with a copyright of Walt Disney Productions. The map legend says #55 is the “Castle Camera Center”. There are items 52, 53, 56, etc. but, NO 55. Was there ever a Camera Center in the Castle?
