Camera buying advice

We are taking our little one to WDW in Sept for the first time, and I would like to have a decent digital camera for the trip.

What I am looking for is a camera that is priced up to $650. Has a fast recovery to take pictures back to back without much waiting between snaps.
Other than that I am pretty open.

Any advice would be helpful.
