Actually, there WILL be a new land at the Magic Kingdom. Essentially, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Liberty Square will be levelled and brand new attractions - catering to those who would otherwise be going to Universal's Islands of Adventure - will be built. The new land will is currently unnamed. Those who have children can experience all there is to see in Fantasyland, Toontown, and Tomorrowland.

"It's a brand new step in the theme park experience," said CEO Michael Eisner. Apparently, the plans to "revitalize" the Magic Kingdom will be called Project "Jiminey(e)".

:D

And because I know I'll get bugged for this, NO, this is NOT true!

My wife and I were just in WDW at New Year's and there is some major construction going on back there. We asked a cast member about what was going in and she just winked and said "magic"!

Where?? Where was the construction?

Not trying to be rude here, so please don't take it that way. By the same token, if someone did a search and found the old topic, they could revive it with their fresh ideas, rather than taking up extra bandwidth several times over with multiple threads saying the exact same thing(a great example is the almost endless stream of "I heard a rumor of a Harry Potter attraction" which always end up degenerating into less than pleasant conversations). Why have 10 different threads covering 1 topic, when the 1 thread could continue to be posted in until the admins determine it has too many posts and needs to be closed, thus leading to the creation of a second thread if people want to continue the discussion? Just my two cents.

Ironic that this discussion currently shares the same front page as the following thread: CONFIRMED- NO MORE CoP!

In that case, a person innocently followed your suggestion. They (apparently) did a search, and posted a followup to an old thread instead of creating a new one. Unfortunately, the thread they found and replied to was nearly 4 years old. The resulting confusion for the revival of a 4 year old rumor has added 3 pages to the thread, and counting. Ugh!

Is it not better to keep the discussions current than to worry about having ten threads on closely related topics?

Is it not also polite not to shamlessly hijack a thread to discuss "the rules?" Oops. :(

With the exception of a few who said "Why did you revive a 4 year old thread?" there actually has been some constructive and current discussion of what can be done to try to make sure that the original rumor never happens. That the CoP will remain there. Once people get past the fact that it was an old thread(and the complaint is more because of the thread title freaking people out since the start date of the thread is not shown until you read it), then the discussion continues. Besides, when something like the HP attraction rumor was getting a new thread almost monthly for awhile there, then the discussion was already current when the new thread was started. When I made my previous comment, it was not me "shamelessly hijacking" the thread. I was answering someone's comment with a reason why searching for a subject is a good idea. I'm sorry you aren't able to see it that way, but that was the intention.

The statement can pretty much mean anything. More than anything I think that he was driving the point home that a 5TH gate is not even on the radar at this time. However theme wise (not sure about space) there is a lot of room for expansion at all for parks at WDW. Beastly kingdom, Australia, South America, Antarctica etc could be added to AK, any number of countries could be added to WS at EPCOT, some sort of Villains land could be added to MK. The options are endless and IMHO this is the type of expansion we will see over next decade at WDW.

Some thoughts...

Some newer members like to ask questions that have already been asked and so have been answered. A simple search can reveal to those members, the answers they seek, and so that is why many people jump on newer members for not running a search.

The CoP thread was revived with a short meaningless sentence. What was the point exactly or bumping a four year old thread with such a post? I don't think people would have complained if it would have been something more meaningful...

As for rudeness...I think if people have any problems with a post they can take it up with that person through PM or if its really 'terrible' they can report it to moderator, etc...such things shouldn't be brought out and take away from the ongoing discussion in a thread. Also, lets not forget the "ignore" button.

Not that what I say has any more importance or weight than anyone else. I'm just making some observations and respectfully expressing my opinion.

:D

The construction was in Fantasy Land, near the former 20K attraction. There were construction barrier walls all along that side of Fantasy land (going towards Toon Town) and when we rode Dumbo, you could see over the walls to the construction going on behind. They're up to something back there!

That was rather rude.

Whilst some subjects may be a bit passe to experienced (or jaded?) members, there are still some people who wish to discuss well known subjects, who may be new to the boards or new to Disney.

Yes, people can do searches for old topics, but where's the fun in that? Anyone should be able to start a new conversation and express their opinions whenever they want, rather than just read other peoples comments from old posts. Since when was there a rule saying "you can't talk about a certain subject because we already talked about it, but sorry you weren't there at the time"? :zipit:

If anyone wants to post an 'old' topic, then they should be free to do so. If you don't want to discuss the topic, then don't criticise or post abrupt dismissive remarks- just ignore it and reply to a post that interests you. WDWMagic is for all- not for just the 'elite' who think that they know all there is to know, and therefore the subject is closed.

OK. I'm done now. I'm a long time reader (although I don't post very often), but I've seen this kinda thing on the increase...

Actually, you judging him was far more rude than him pointing out that it wasn't a literal comment. MKT knows what he is talking about, and you don't. That does not make him rude.

It just makes you ignorant.

Ok, then. Well, it seems I've inadvertently stirred something up.

My intention in posting this as a new thread and not reviving a four-year-old story was to present new information. I did do a search, and since there were no new threads addressing what I thought was an interesting recent comment made by a WDW higher-up, I decided to start a new thread on the subject. My hope was that maybe some of our resident insiders might have some tidbits they'd be willing to share, or even rumors they'd be willing to dismiss.

Sometimes, to drag up an old thread also drags up old information, old bitterness, and quickly leads to many new pages of posters screaming:

THIS IS AN OLD POST, NIMROD!!!

As background, I am a long-time wdwmagic reader, so I understand the importance of searching for previous threads before posting a new one, and can appreciate the irritation starting a new thread seems to create for some posters on this board. However, I agree with others who have stated that individuals have the opportunity to choose which posts they do and do not read, and if something does not interest you or is old news in your book, you are free to skip it. I've been here long enough to not let this type of negative posting affect me, but it could certainly cause newer members of the board to think twice before joining in any discussions.

Thanks to all of you who continue to share your insights and keep the magic alive for those of us far from the World.

MsSpinShady

P.S. MKT, I am not referring to you - I get (and appreciate!) your sense of humor. :p

Oops again. Another attempt at comedy lost in the literal world of plain text.

I was mocking myself with that comment about shamelessly hijacking threads, not you. Please accept my apologies for my lack of clarity and strange sense of humor.

No worries then. It sounded like the comment was aimed at me, so I got a little defensive. Everything is all good. Let's continue on with the discussion.
