First of all, my name is Ty. I am a huge Disney fan. I have been to Walt Disney World 4 times, Disneyland once, and Disneyland Paris once. Now that we've got that out of the way, and having I've earned some major points with this community having visited a foreign Disney Park, I have a few questions. On Oct. 17 I have an interview at the fabulous Walt Disney World Resort for full time attractions. I was wondering if any cast members could tell me what the interview process consists of. In doing so, you may help me be a little less nervous pursuing the career goal I've had since the tender age of 15. Also if anyone has any tips on locating suitable housing, the day to day routine of working in the "World", or any other general tid-bits of precious information, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for the help. Have a magical evening!

Well first off let me say welcome!
I too have visted all those parks....Disneyland Paris is so unique!!
I'm glad to hear you're thinking about joining our world...the more true Disney fans the better.
As for the interview process, I really can't say much about that. I came in as a manager of the Disney Stores so my "interview: was quite different.
Also, I did not go into attractions so I'm not sure what they might for that.
Ummm lets see, what else...
Housing wise...I just looked on Roommates.com and found a roomie for the first year I was here...then I moved in with someone I work with...
The biggest problem with apartments right now is that the majority of them are going condo....

Let me know you have any other questions...

Hi Ty! Congratulations on making the decision to follow a dream! Remember though, that many dreams come with hard work attached, and sometimes follow a different path than we imagined. Here's some advice for the interview, that probably goes for every interview.

First, look you best. Get a haircut. Press your shirt. A tie is optional, but not a bad idea. Don't wear jeans or gym shoes. It does not have to be your Sunday best, but you want to make a great first impression.

Second, smile. Look the interviewer in the eye as you talk to them and smile. Think of a couple good questions to ask (i.e. "Will I be responsible for cleaning my costume?" "Who do I call if I'm sick?")

Bet you already know that! As for the interview itself, it is just you and the staff person asking about you. Try not to geek out - they want good employees not Disney fanatics! Mine did not last too long. They mainly just want to size you up to see if you can do the job.

I work part time, and have since Feb. 1, so I'm a realitive newcomer. But I still get those feelings of "I can't believe I'm doing this!' as I walk the Utildor or even eat at the Mousekateria. The important thing to remember is that you are called a Cast Member, and the park is divided into onstage and backstage. A lot of things happen backstage, some that could make your skin crawl, but when you are onstage you a performing for the pleasure of the many guests you interact with. The key to performing is making your audience believe there is nothing else you would rather be doing than be with them at that moment. Everything else falls to the side, to be left backstage. That is the Disney magic. Knowing how it is done does not make it less so.

Good luck, and hope to see you backstage!

(This thread might wanna move to Employment/International/College Program.... or whatever the hell it's called) :)

Two things are key-- Be yourself and smile. Don't try to push the Disney enthusiast thing too much, just have fun. Be prepared for things like "Name a time when you experienced outstanding guest service," and "When was a time you did something beyond your normal work duties?" Have fun. WDW isn't a hard place to get hired at. Have an idea where you want to go in attractions--like what parks and areas. Just remember to smile. I know, it's all stereotypical interview stuff. Good luck.

Know what attraction(s) you want to work. If they aren't available, have backups. Attractions like Tower, Haunted Mansion, etc are hard to a role at but places like Fantasyland or Tomorrowland have LOTS of room for you and lots of attractions. And remember, if you do not like where you are at, just head over to Casting after your first 6 months (no reprimands or attendance issuse) and request to be transfered somewhere else.

Thank you so much for all your help!! I'm still nervous. Its my dream to make a career of working at Walt Disney World, so my fingers are crossed. I want to do my little part every day to bring the magic into someone's visit, if us true fans don't keep that concept alive, who will? Thank you so much again.
