Call When Checking-Out?

If the paperwork hung on the door the morning of check-out is in order, I always call the Front Desk
to let them know I'm vacating the room. But I'm never sure if that's necessary. The phone call the night before nor the billing summary make any mention of it.

I was once told by a Tech servicing the room's MagicBand electronics after a power outage, That they can tell if you, a Mousekeeper, et al are in the room. I didn't totally buy it. I can see them knowing who triggered the door lock and when, but not know if other members of the party are in the room.

Anyway ...... do you call the Front Desk when checking-out?

As long as the billing summary and paperwork left for you is accurate, there's no need to notify the front desk when you leave.

It's nice that you give them a heads up, though!

No need to call.

When you call, your call isn't even to the front desk. It goes to a central location. Front desk at your resort might not even be getting the message.

You can just leave. Just take the privacy sign off the door.

The only time I've ever called was one time when I was staying at one of the All-Stars maybe 15 years ago, they'd used a pre-made stamp to stamp a message on the room charge envelope asking to dial an extension when we were leaving the room. We did and it was just an automated message thanking us and telling us that our room was now marked as having been vacated (presumably the phone system told them what room we were calling from).

Not sure if it was just a test or if it was because they had a particularly large number of rooms turning over that day, but that was the only time in my 15+ on-site stays I've ever seen that.

We left at 3:30 am without a call or anything. We were promptly billed at 11:30am that day for our stay. You can just leave and are automatically checked out at 11am.
