GC is a nice place to eat. Make your reservations early, not that it gets overly crowded, but if you want a window seat, especially during the MK fireworks, definitely call in advance.

I don't recall it being particularly noisy, probably around your avg. restaurant noise-level when busy. The food was great, not outrageously expensive...dinner for two cost me around $60 or so (without wine/drinks).

Follow this link for their menu:

I was just there last week with my brother...

We liked it there, but not enough to go back for another meal.

The food was good, but just too different for our tastes

Our favorite meal was at Fulton's Crabhouse...if you like any type of fish you should check that place out

we ate there Aug 20th to celebrate our 10th wedding aniversary. I thought it was great. Good food, great atmosphere, good service. It cost around 70$ (no wine or alchol) I got the samom, hubby got pasta. We also spilt a desert (9$).

For us it isn't any everyday kinda of place. But for speical ocassions it is great. We will always remember that dinner.

Take your camera and camcorder with you, the veiw is great.

The California Grill is our favorite place by far in all of the kingdom. We go there every trip. The food is great as is the service. Watching the fireworks while enjoying creme brulee is very enjoyable. Last time we were there was over Valentine's Day and no less than four couples sitting near us got engaged that night. Th staff even brought out the ring in a glass slipper for one of the girls! My husband loves their sushi and I like their "vegetarian fusion" . We like the CG because we like their adventurous menu. I hope that you will try it and enjoy it! After dinner, walk out onto the roof for a spectacular view of the property. (The door to the roof is just past the restrooms)

CG is the best place I have ever eaten on property. I have been twice and each time it was excellent. The beef filet in tamarind bbq sauce is probably the best steak I've had. When went there for my sister-in-law's birthday in July and the steak was so tender that she was cutting it with a fork! I would definately recommend splurging for this place.

we just returned from wdw and ate at cali grill friday night.
it was very noisy.... they have some name for the way they have the food all prepared out in the open.... lots of shouting and such by the chefs.... it wasnt bad..... just different..... definitely not quiet and romantic though. the server did not impress me. we wanted to get our dessert later, like come back at closing and he said no way... and didnt make any suggestions.(we were staying right at the hotel, contemp). then we had sushi with great crab albeit at 17 bucks, very pricey. we split the steak with bbq and it was delicious. we had the tomatoes with camembert cheese.. cheese great, tomatoes sucked. dessert was ok: the molten center choc. cake. the chocolate wave at coral reef was much better. we decided to order the three flavor creme brulee" to go "which of course baffled the server. we begged him to let us bring back the dishes or something. he finally got the dessert chef to rig something up with aluminum foil. it was very delicious for our midnite snack. all in all, it was ok, but i think over rated. i vote for the coral reef as best restaraunt. very attentive staff, very nice ambiance with the living seas aquarium ( and mickey mouse in full scuba gear!)the food was delicious, grilled giant shrimp, creme brulee, lobster chowder , very good.

I eat there 3 or 4 times a year, the menu is very seasonal and I've always enjoyed our meal. If you are looking for quiet or a little romance, reserve a later time. 9:00 reservations would put you at your main course around 10:00 fireworks. Service is excellent but food moves slowly, like most nicer restaurants. If possible book around the fireworks-you won't regret it.

This is one of our favorite places to eat now at Disney. The food and service were *very* good. If you are looking for something different to do there try requesting to sit at the food counter. Its neat watching what the chefs are doing back there while they are cooking. :)

Here's a question:

What about dinner there when there are no fireworks?

Everyone always posts about eating there while the fireworks are going, but obvioulsy EVERYONE cannot be in there eating at the same time. Most others have to eat when there are NO fireworks.....

In the fall when there are only one or two nights of fireworks at MK, is CG still a crowded place? Is the view still good? Are the lights still on after the MK closes? Is it still worth having dinner there without fireworks going off? Can you still go out onthe roof and have a decent view of the park?

Just curious.......thanks!

:)

It really depends on what kind of food you like - I found California Grill to be too much electic food - They really should put some regular type menu options for people like me that like meat and potatoes. :) I ended ordering an appetizer that was a pita with cheese and some type of sauce but their wine selection is out of this world. It is kind of pricey so if you want you can do like me and my mom did and have appetizers and wine and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Easier to get a spot by the window in the bar area as long as you show up an hour or so before the fireworks display.

We ate there is June (just appetizers and dessert) with drinks for four of us and the bill was about $100. The grilled flatbreads (pizza) was excellent (Mushroom!!!:slurp: ) and the desserts were good but we had a late reservation and they were out of a lot of things. We really couldn't see the fireworks from our table but the walkway on either side of the dining room was really neat and we did get to see Illuminations from there while we waited to be seated. Enjoy!

I ate there last night. The food was excellent; I wish I could say the same about the service!

Our waiter had to be reminded twice about my SIL's drink; he never brought my appetizer. Since my SIL was sharing her flatbread wirh everyone, I thought he was waiting to bring the tomato platter with cheese, basil, etc out next, but a staff of waiters brought all of the entrees instead. I just asked them to remove my salad from the bill and forget about it.

He also didn't tell me that I could order ANY wine by the glass for 1/4 of the bottle price. I would certainly have had something other than the house wine had I known.

There were a couple of other problems with the service; I just can't remember them now.

All in all, I probably won't be making a return trip soon.
