CALIFORNIA GRILL with NO FIREWORKS???

Hey All!

Is it still a good experience to have dinner at the California Grill if there will be no fireworks that night?

Is the meal experience as good? Is the view of the Castle, etc still nice?

I just found out there will only be ONE Spectromagic while we are there..and only TWO fireworks!!

I wanted to treat Mom and Dad for their Anniversary and just found out about the lack of frieworks.
Should I keep the Reservations or try someplace else?

Thanks!

It is a fabulous restarurant if there are fireworks or not. The view of MK is the BEST! Me and my brother went out on the observation deck and watched the splashes from Spl Mnt. I would definantly recogmend it at any time of year or day.

SteveUK- if you look up the hours on the disneyworld website it lists the times of the shows, parades, fireworks if you click on each day.

I love the CG, we weren't able to get there during the fireworks when we went, but we were too busy enjoying our food to notice. :) Personally if all the restaurant had going for it was the fireworks view I don't think it would be worth it to go.

I'd say keep your ressies. CG is a wonderful restaurant with great food and a lovely view. The advatage of going when there's not fireworks is that there won't be a parade of people coming through to see the fireworks.:animwink:

Enjoy!

Yes. It will be one of the most romantic dinners you have ever had: great, California-style food and a terrific view.

But remember to make reservations, and tell the Contemporary's gate guard (and the MK toll attendant) that you have dinner reservations, so that you can come in to park free.

WOW!
I lost control of this thread pretty quick!

Thanks for the responses! I think I'll keep the reservations and hope they enjoy it.

Looks like the California Grill may have just got a couple new customers too! :animwink:

As long as the view and the food is still good, I'm sure they'll have a great time!

I'll go ahead and reiterate what everybody else has said and say keep the ressies. The food is wonderful, and the view is absolutely gorgeous. And I can't give a firsthand account about the sushi because I don't eat it, but my husband, father in law, and brother in law said it's some of the best they've had. Have fun!

California Grill, with or without the fireworks, is the best dinner you'll ever have. I'm 26, which isn't all that old, but I've had some meals, and CG was the best I've had. Ask for a window seat, and you're home free. Incredible views (easily the best WDW view you'lkl ever have.) Enjoy!:)

Thanks again all!

I'm actually sending Mom and Dad there for a nice Anniversary Dinner alone when we take them to WDW to celebrate their 40th!

I trust you all enough to keep the reservations as they are. It sounds like they'll have a great exeprience!

I'm kinda thinking I'd like to go too now!

bad experience at cg

unlike everyone else, my husband i absolutely hated the california grill. we went there this past june while on our honeymoon. i dont know..maybe we were spoiled by the special treatment we got at every other restraunt...i have never been treated so poorly..we arrived well ahead of our priority seating time and told them we wanted a window seat...they said there was like an hour long wait for that which was fine by us...we spent some time outside looking at mk...after two hours of waiting i was getting a little irritated but still excited about getting a window seat...i was severely disapointed when we were seated in the back of the restraunt next to a serving station. the noise from the kitchen and the families with loud kids made conversation impossible. after we were seated we waited another hour for our food. my husband had made sure every restraunt we visited knew it was our honeymoon and every place had gone out of our way to make our meals extra special. the california grill was a huge disapointment. We would definitely NOT reccomend it for a romantic place to eat. the food, however, was great...too bad the experience ruined it.

I really like the food. The view of the park is excellent. I enjoyed seeing the fireworks but it is not perfect. Because the kitchen is open and you can see the chefs cooking when they dim the lights for the fireworks you can see the glow of the kitchen on the windows. I found it a little distracting.

I still think it is a nice resaurant and the view is great.
