California Grill Renovations

When we ate at the Cali Grill earlier this month I asked our waiter what he knew of the renovations. He said he only knew they'd be replacing the roof and ALL the glass around the restaurant.

I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the Cali Grill and I hate to see them change the decor or menu items too much. I know change is necessary every so often - He said the staff kept telling Disney what really sold on the menu but Disney said there will be no promises.

Anyone else have any details on the renovation?

Hopefully they'll make the place quieter. I think there was another thread a while ago about details but the kitchen really adds a bunch of discord, especially in the corner nearest the lagoon.

It is not the most quiet place, in fact I would classify the atmosphere as bustling. More so by the cooks, but even eleswhere due in part to the viewing platform. We thoroughly enjoy every non-quiet moment in Cali Grill and we hope it does not become as quiet as a library. We love the celebration feel of the place and don't want it to be as silent as a morgue. If you need absolute silence, please dine elsewhere. We hope they keep the menu, servers, and fun feel of the place. Go ahead and redecorate, re-roof, etc. Looking forward to visiting when the rehab is done.

I agree if you want quieter there's always Victoria & Alberts. I enjoy everything about the Cali Grill now - especially watching the cooks move about in the kitchen. The great restaurant has a great blend of being both formal and casual. We love the restaurant so much we fly down once every 2/3 months just for a night to have dinner. It's a good thing we don't live closer or I'd go broke from eating there weekly. While change is eventually imminent in most everything, I hope they don't change it for the worse like some things.
