Hi Folks.Does anyone know exactly what type of work is involved in the above restaurant ? Just curious why it's taking 6 months to complete.

Cali Grill Refurb?

From what little I have heard, the restaurant will be almost completely gutted making the 6 month time frame almost short.
Cheers Master Yoda. I had a funny feeling for that time lapse it had to be something major.

I wonder why though, I saw nothing wrong with the place as it was in July of 2012.
Neither did I. I know some companies simply do refurbs like this on a sort of loose schedule. After X years the place gets a new look or at least freshened up. Personally, I am fine with it. Any evidence of Disney increasing or at least doing adequate maintenance is welcomed by me.

I just hope they keep the open kitchen. I love to cook and it was always a dream to go to culinary school. I've gone through Julia Childs' book several, several times so I love to see a higher end kitchen as it functions. Our table was right near the kitchen, it was awesome.

well, that's good. I've only been once, but it was a nice experience.

I think I heard a rumor that the Cali Grill refurb is being done by the same firm that is building the Seven Dwarfs Mine Coaster.

Not all that crazy about the wall of shared bench seating....looks like a glorified Denny's. I am sure it will still be nice but I just prefer a little more separation between myself and the people dining next to me...especially in a premium venue like that,

Ugh. Shared bench seats are the worst. I am not a fan at all of this maximizing utilized space at the cost of diner comfort thing.
I think the overall refurb design looks awesome, but that long bench... I really hope it doesn't make the final product. Then again, as long as there is still a comfortable lounge where we can take our dinner instead of opting for a dining room table, I'll be happy.

Yes, decades-old kitchen is being completely overhauled, in addition to the changes in the dining area.
When we were taken up in the Cali vator to the restaurant,we were seated at the bar area and given a free drink because our table wasn't ready.
