Cali Grill for Fireworks

I have a quick question regarding my upcoming trip. (2 1/2 weeks!) I have an ADR for California Grill at 9:15pm. I have been here numerous times, however, I have never been this late. I planned this because wishes is at 10 that night.

If I arrive at 9, will I be able to request a table near the windows for a view of wishes? We are a party of four and do not mind waiting extra time at all. Additionally, is it likely that they will be able to do this? I am starting to wonder if people arrive earlier and stay seated for a longer duration.

Also, I haven't been in a few years (since before the refurb). Any suggestions for meals is appreciated!

It's been a long time since we've eaten here during Wishes. Remember its prime time seating when you'll be eating as others will want to see the fireworks, so I bet kind of everyone makes that request. No harm in asking. But like you said maybe others will eat earlier, but try to linger.
Good luck to you and have a wonderful trip!!!!

It doesn't hurt to ask for a window seat. But are you aware that they have outside viewing areas? Many people leave their tables, and go outside for an unobstructed view of the fireworks. They will even pace your meal so that your food doesn't get cold at the table.

I was disappointed not to be seated at the window during our dinner in February but the outside viewing area, especially the less crowded one on the left when facing MK, was wonderful. We were actually seated in a room on the opposite side of the Contempo, facing Bay Lake, but we got to see Illuminations and the Electric Water parade from our seats. The meal was enjoyable and getting to step outside with the view of MK was amazing!

I wouldn't stress if you don't get a window seat. Have a great dinner!

It can't hurt to ask, but the odds are slim...especially with a later time. People tend to camp out at their tables as the time for Wishes draws near. I've also never been seated on time at Cali Grill. I think we waited close to 35 min on our first visit.

I also wouldn't turn down a table close to that area at the windows. We were one row off from the windows on our first visit and it was an awesome view. I could see the castle perfectly between the two tables in front of me.

Ah ok, I guess it really won't matter either way. The outside viewing area should be fine.

Thanks for all of the input.

Arrive very early, make the request and have a few drinks at the bar while you wait. Also when we were there in 2012, most people stopped everything and went out in the viewing deck when the fireworks started.

Here is a picture of the Magic Kingdom from the outside viewing area for the California Grill just prior to the fireworks starting. This was taking in Sept. of 2009. They pipe in the audio with a slight delay to synchronize with the fire works
