Hi All!

As some of you know may know, i've been trying to reach the Cake Hotline for Epcot for a few days now.

So I called again yesterday and can verify what the into message says.

For parties of 5 or less, you can order a Celebrations Cake - chocolate or vanilla - at the podium or select restaurants through out the World. Not all restaurants participate, but the list is extensive. This will be a generic celebration cake - with out personalization.

You continue through the intro message and it gives you 5 options - depending on if you want a cake at DHS - press 1, AK - press 2, Epcot - press 3, and MK - press 4, resorts - press 5. When you press respective number, you get a list of the restaurants participating. If the restaurant you want is listed then you hold and place a cake order.

After not hearing from the Epcot department - I pressed 4 for MK and apologized to the Cake CM b/c I don't like to do that - but the MK line picked up right away. I explained that i was trying to get in touch with the Epcot line and she apologized b/c she knows that they are very short staffed.

I pumped her for info - is there a place to go look at the cakes and she said no. But I got loads of decorating info from her.

On the 10 inch and larger cakes - which cost about $45 and feed 10 and more - those are the ones that you can get the edible Disney Character images on them - but it costs $30 more then the $45 cake. So you are now looking at over $75 for a cake! WOW! The edible images are cute but for two people - that is way too much cake - and that much for a cake?? I'm not sold yet. :lookaroun

So I asked if there was anything they could do to the 6 inch cake - other then just personalizing it. And I got a weird mixed answer. Basically by calling ahead, I can get the 6 inch cake personalized and ready the day I want it. But i wanted something Micky - or special - and she said that they can do a Marzapan Mickey and if you add that - it just says Happy Birthday and the personalized name is removed. Why they can't do both - I have no idea b/c i have no pic to see this Marzapan Mickey.

Anyway - she said that Marble cake is availbe in cakes 10" and larger. And she said that there is a Mickey Face Cake - that does not say Happy Birthday or give the person's name - but is in the shape of mickey - that runs around $35. The at the podium cakes is $21.50 I think.

I am a bit bummed b/c I want them to make it really special - but with that being said - the CM I spoke to was hesitant to give me info on what was offered at Epcot b/c she only knew some of what was available - not all. As for not calling - she said that since I am so far out (35 days) then that is why they have not called me back - and they should soon.

Hope this info helps to all those who are looking to order cakes!!

Thanks for posting! I was wondering if you'd heard back from them. I think tomorrow I'm going to call my resort directly, and see what i can get delivered to my room. I'm in the same boat as you - as I want a really cool customized cake, but for only 2 people. $75 is just not happening.

I have no idea what a marzepan mickey looks like either. Maybe it's just the one w/the circular mickey mouse on the 6 inch cake. We got one of those for free at Garden Grille as a surprise when we got engaged. So I don't want to do the same one again. It's cute though. I may just go to the Boardwalk Bakery, and bring a cool cake to the room myself if I can't get what I want. I hope it all works out for you - I'm sure they'll call you soon!

Just realized you live in Hilton Head!! I spent every summer there for 15 years :)

Did you really? Do you still come here? If so - we'll have to meet! :o)

No call back yet - but they don't take calls on the weekend. I am leaning towards the Mickey shaped cake or the one with the marzapane - but we'll see what the Epcot Cake CM tells me. :o) If I don't hear by the end of the week I am going to call again - and then if i still can't get through - i'm going to call another line and ask for a supervisor or something. I just want to put the cake order in! It's just not leaving me with a real feeling of comfort here. If they are this busy - what is the cake going to look like! ha ha!

The Mickey shaped cake is SO cute!! I'm trying to get a cake for 8 days from now, so I don't even know if I'm too late! I just kept putting it off. Since they don't take calls on weekends, I'll have to try tomorrow. I'm going to have it sent to the room I decided.

I do still go to Hilton Head, I was just there in October. It feels like home to me. My parents a place in Shipyard, and sold it when I was 23. The past couple years we've rented a beach house on Dune Lane, it's right near Coligny Plaza. My cousin lives in Sea Pines. Are any of those places ringing a bell?

Yes they do! I live in Indigo Run but work on the South End - just off the Cross Island by the Post Office and the Salty Dog T - Shirt Factory!

So I too made an executive decision...i'm having the cake delivered to Cali Grill the day before the big bday. Niles' actual bday is the 7th and that day we will be at Rose and Crown for dinner and then EMH at MK - I can't imagine carrying the left over cake around until 1 am! Since day one is just a resort/check in day - we'll finish dinner at Cont and head back to GF. I don't have to worry about carrying the cake then.

You mentioned getting something from a bakery at the Boardwalk? Do you know if the GF has a bakery? Hope you are having a great weekend!
