I was at Castaway Cay on 28-Jan-2025. From the looks of things, there could be an expansion of the cabana's happening at Castaway Cay's Serenity Bay.

If I had to guess, it looks like there could be somewhere between 8 and 12 cabanas being built in that area.

These structures appear to be west of the Castaway Air Bar, which leads toward the crew beach. While I think it's a great spot for guest expansion, I sure hope they find another spot for the crew beach

I’ve been in all the cabanas—family and adult cabanas on Castaway, and a Lookout Cay cabana, because I was traveling with a large group who thought it was cool and we split the cost among all of us. Combination of peer pressure and FOMO, I guess. I would never, ever see the value in the cost of a cabana for my two-person family. That’s just not enough free sunscreen.

All that said, to be fair, I hate the beach, so I enjoy my verandah or Deck 4, or the lounges in front of Cove Cafe just as much as I would a cabana. And those are free.

Even if the crew thinks we’re weird for not disembarking to Castaway. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The Lookout Cay cabanas are eons nicer than the Castaway cabanas.

On my third cruise I was able to book a cabana on Serenity Bay. I think it was a total fluke because it was my 3rd cruise and I booked it super late on the day it was open for everyone to book and it should have been booked up by then. Anyway, I booked it with the thought that it was too expensive and I'd probably cancel. I didn't end up canceling. The day I booked it was my 40th birthday and I decided it was a treat-myself moment. The was great to do it once, we enjoyed the comfort of the cabana furniture (and fan) and the service we received. I had one of the greatest naps in that cabana, the sounds of the waves and a nice breeze was great.

What we didn't like though was there was no bathroom in the cabana and no shade over our hammock until the last hour we were there. I wouldn't rush to book it again but if I was with a larger group it might be worth it cost wise.

I will be thrilled if it gets a bit easier to pick up cabanas on castaway cay. We are not super early morning people and by the time we get to the beach the prime chairs are usually gone, we just like having a quiet place to relax and enjoy the ocean… the new cabanas on castaway look like they will be closer to the water than the existing serenity bay ones.
