What is cheaper for a family of three, a cab or the transportation Disney offers with our package ($15.00 each = $45.00 each way)?

I recommend taking a cab. I've used the official Disney bus twice, and it's been highly inefficient. My last trip, we waited for over two hours because, despite waiting right where we needed to be and visibly flagging the bus down, it didn't pay attention and sped on by.

It is nothing like the WDW transportation at MCO. My suggestion is to spend a bit more for a cab. You'll save time and potential headaches.

LAX is one of the ugliest, dirtiest, hectic, and most poorly managed big city airports in the USA. It should be avoided like the plague. There, I said it, as any good Southern Californian must do when discussing LA's civic shame with out-of-towners. :o

That said, a cab from LAX to Disneyland is going to run you at least 100 bucks, before tip. There are many online taxi fare calculators that can confirm that for you.

Personally, I recommend folks fly into John Wayne Airport in Orange County, about 20 minutes drive from the Disneyland Hotel. It often costs a bit more to fly into John Wayne, but it's closer and cleaner than dealing with LAX. Long Beach Airport is also easier than LAX, and is the main West Coast hub for JetBlue. But if the reservations are already made and you have to do LAX, I would go for a Town Car for not much more than cab fare. But the deal on the shuttle via the Disney website sounds like it can't be beat.

Ugh yes, about LAX, In Jan I flew into that place after the nicely renovated MCO talk about a bad transition... Thankfully my flight out of SoCal back to the bay area was at John Wayne. Its so nice, its kinda small but its very nice and not as crazy as LAX. If I remember right some of the gates were under renovation at the time.

If I remember right some of the gates were under renovation at the time.

They have built a new terminal at John Wayne, and they are remodeling the existing terminals. The new terminal, Terminal C, and all the renovations will be done this August. It will be expand John Wayne by about a dozen gates, and freshen what is already a lovely, clean and modern airport an easy 20 minute drive from the check-in desk of the Disneyland Hotel.

The only good thing, and I do mean the only good thing, about LAX is the fabulous Theme Building in the center of the complex. If you have to use LAX, you can either sit there poking your eyes out with a plastic fork you stole from the stinky snack bar near your gate, or you can take the elevator up to the top of the Theme Building and visit the Encounter restaurant designed by Walt Disney Imagineering in the 1990's.

Use John Wayne when ever possible. Baggage claim is very easy. Take Super Shuttle (Blue Van). It's cheaper than Disneyland Shuttle.

Shuttle2LAX?

Has anyone tried this yet? http://shuttle2lax.com? It is new, but they are sure advertising a lot. There is even an advertisement on this site. So I am just wondering if anyone has tried it yet and how it was. At $20 for first passenger and $9 each additional passenger, it seems like the cheapest option so far.

I just looked at the website, it's actually $11 for each additional. Another great option, I'll definitely take a shuttle instead of a cab.
