C.O.P. Missing

Not to provoke a nastier debate, but uh, CBJ wasnt mentioned on the planning DVD either. A lot wasnt mentioned, like Tom Sawyer's Island. Its liek they only hit the main attractions.

So i honestly dont see them doing anything to COP based soley on whats mentioned in the promotional materials. The average guests will not go to WDW by seeing an ad for COP whereas an ad for Expeition Everest might spur a 5trip to the mouse.

Disney may make stupid choices when it comes to rides and attractions sometimes but alot of you don't give them enough credit, if there is one thing the Disney company knows how to do it's marketing. The avarage disney tourist doesn't give a crap about C.O.P and they know that. I mean come on they are the company, they know what attrations are popular and which ones aren't they also have their own agenda. Althought im not saying I always like it.

It shows what the average visitor is interested in...NEW...THRILLS....FUN.....not a museum...

Actually, I think it shows what some kids in the marketing department and a few MBA's *think* the average visitor is interested in.

or more likely the debate about this is caused by traditionalist fans and their out of touch reality of what the average visitor to Orlando truely wants in a vacation......which is probably the case here.

I love thrill rides as much as the next person, but to me COP IS what Disney SHOULD be... I remember being so excited last time I was there and COP was up and running... when I think of Disney I think of the sentimental side of some of the attractions, especially COP... and of course the animatronics are something that can't be seen many other places.

I do understand why most people would be say "So, uh, we just sit in a revolving theater?" but I think COP is like a WDW historic landmark and who cares if some people don't like it... there will always be people who know it's value. I don't get why they wouldn't put it on the map though... Maybe so they could have more room to focus on the more popular attractions? Who knows, but people walk all over Tomorrow Land anyway, so it's not like people won't find it. In a way, people might be like "Oh, what's this? It's not on the map, let's check it out."

Anyway, I hope COP lasts... it would be such a shame to see it gone.

Ok now that I have gotten back from the MK and WDW and am in the early stages off post-disney depression as I won't be going back tell next year. I figured I will just post an update as to what I saw on the ride earlier today: 4/20/05...

My God the MK was packed!!!I really wasn't expecting it to be this crowded. I did the keys to the kingdom tour in the morning and that threw the rest of my day off...but the tour was far more important.

I rode the CoP twice today. Many times the crowd was so big that it queued around the first turn around. I know I know...a far cry from the 2 hour lines people waited in for it in 1964...

Both times my theater was near or at 3/4 full. The audiences I were with laughed at the jokes, clapped at the end, and sang a little. :sohappy:

Now I found both pros and cons:

Pros: MK high attendence allowed alot of people to see the CoP, whether they liked it or not.

I noticed that the loading theater has the background music running. This did not function the last time I rode CoP, so this is new to me.

The background audio for all scenes seemed more in focuse and sharp.

Rover has been fixed...well I'll say better than what he was before in act IV

The broken curtain holders in act III where fixed

The theater did not break down when I rode it both times.

Cons: The AA's are SCREAMING for rehab.

The background music in act III was not working...only Father sing beautfil tomorrow.

The curtain in the load theater squeeked quite a bit when it folded down when we rotated to Act I.

One of the new hong kong trainers both times I rode the CoP came over the intercom to tell someone in some theater to sit down. Wow I've never seen this before so I dunno if it happens often.

The ceiling tiles in the theater are soiled in variousvareas.

The unload theater had faded music.

*Did you know since 1994 there are some mechanical functions that have been turned off. The stove in Act III no longer opens to reveal a dinner roasting in there because the electric range is no longer mentioned...and there are still certain appliances that have not operated when Act II burns it's fuse...

Lord help save this ride...that's all I gotta say.
