Trip Report C’mon Everybody, Here We Go….*COMPLETED*

Think of all the joy you’ll find
When you leave the world behind
And bid your cares goodbye!

Ahh, a relaxing getaway from reality. No cares or concerns. Just bliss.

Not exactly a perfect picture of vacationing at Walt Disney World during Spring Break, is it?

But we’re going anyway. We’re Spring Break Veterans and it’s time for the annual reunion.

Two years ago we missed out on our usual adventure thanks to Covid. The stay-at-home vacation just wasn’t the same! (Although you can read about it here: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-“no-trip”-trip-report-completed.964173/)

Last year we were able to return, albeit under Covid protocols. We believed that enduring masks 24/7, plexiglass and vinyl dividers on attractions, mobile order Door Nazis and limited shopping/dining/entertainment would be acceptable in exchange for the very low crowds that we’d experienced on earlier pandemic trips. But the parks were packed and we ended up spending a lot of time at the pool (which wasn’t a bad thing. We’re pool people.)

Now that park capacity has increased and nearly all Covid restrictions are gone, we expect to find the shoulder-to-shoulder spring break crowds of yore. And long lines. So we’re packing our patience and “It is what it is” attitudes.

Because in spite of all the negatives WDW is still our happy place.

We can’t wait.

OMG yay!!! A Tuvalu and Em TR is exactly what the doctor ordered!

Obligatory picture of John Stamos. As a doctor. Why not? :inlove:

Actually, I have another trip under my belt since my last (unfinished...) TR back in January and I am looking at a long weekend the first week of May if I can find airfare that doesn't cost more than my AP...
I know someone who might be there during that time…..

I’m here this week and hope to collect a card as well. Went to AK today and In the afternoon was greeted with a torrential downpour, blowing wind, thunder and lightning. I blame Tuvalu for the arrival of the rain. 🤣😂🤣
Sorry but @Darstarr is the rain goddess. (And I *think* she is currently somewhere in the state of FL. 😁)

I, on the other hand, haven’t left the state of GA yet. 😉 So no blamesies until after I’ve arrived! 🤣

In the car less than 10 minutes and we have to make a stop.

In addition to Em’s much-needed coffee, we’re getting a couple donuts. No usual breakfast at Chick Fil A. It’s Sunday.

Em is greeted by an enthusiastic male voice. “Good Morning!”

She begins to order and is interrupted by another enthusiastic “Good Morning!”

She replies, “Good Morning,” and begins to order again.

Em is interrupted mid-sentence again with a third enthusiastic, “Good Morning!”

We burst into laughter. Then through the speaker we can hear a second worker say to the first, “Turn your headset on!!”

Em and I can barely hold it together.

When we reach the window the second worker apologizes for the first, now standing behind her, wishing us yet another….

….you guessed it…..

GOOD MORNING!!

GOOD MORNING!!

This is the type of thing that would gives me fits of hysterical laughter each time I rethink of it :) And a very good omen for the start of a trip (the laughing part, not the technically challenged part).

No picture of the Welcome to Florida sign.

I was driving and Em was sleeping.

I haven’t mastered @wdisney9000 ‘s ability to take pictures while driving. (On second thought, perhaps that isn’t the wisest goal to master. 🤣)

But to prove we made it to Florida, I just took this shot of the entrance to Ocala Palms Golf Community for Adults. Ocala is about an hour north of WDW. Home to Ohio retirees and not particularly kid friendly. (Ask my adult children.)

Apparently I can’t take a decent picture from the car as a passenger either!

We refueled and grabbed a quick bite at a McD’s across the street. Em was surprised she was allowed inside, because in order to work or eat at this location you have to be over the age of 60. Back braces were worn by all employees. I told Em they are likely a standard part of the uniform.

Two men were working in the lobby. Their job seemed to be delivering food and then making conversation with guests trying to eat. A senior lady behind Em insisted on commenting to me about one of the men. Problem was I couldn’t hear a word she was saying, so I just kept smiling and nodding.

One of the men came by to talk with us four times in the ten minutes we were sitting at our table.

“I didn’t know we were dining at 50s Prime Time,” Em quietly muttered.
