Bye-Bye, Soda Fountain

Although the park was really crowded, we had a great time. They had a villains meet-and-greet in town square which was SUPER jam packed, but they also had a villains dance party in New Orleans Square, which was fantastic. They had a lot of rarely seen villains there and it was really fun to see them dance.

The Disney Soda Fountain on Hollywood Blvd is going away. It's being replaced with Ghiraradelli's. This is great news, in my opinion, as I really love the Ghirardelli's shop in DCA. The food at the Soda Fountain was decent but nothing to write home about. The ice cream was good, but I'm looking forward to Ghirardelli's. Now I won't have to go all the way to Anaheim.:D This is LA's first and only Ghirardelli's, opening on November 15th.

Is it really that bad going to anaheim if it means you're in Disney? LOL!

I liked it, but then again the one time I went we were visiting Hollywood that day. I couldn't believe it was RIGHT across the street from the Chinese Theatre. That surprised me. You know, it had some character in it. The pictures on the wall of all the celebrities that visited it. I guess it wasn't a classic Disney feeling, but it was alright. Really good ice cream and I remember the guy behind the counter talked our ear off as soon as he found out we were Canadian. Friendly guy.

I do enjoy that whole block. I know that it used to be seedy, and is very touristy now; but I enjoy it. There was a premiere going on one time that I visited. Can't remember the movie, but it was cool to see the red carpet thing going on.

I did think that they could have done more with the Disney fountain. But I love the WDW Ghirardelli fountain, so I think this is an awesome idea. And glad they are keeping the Studio Store, although i also think that that can be done better, too. It is in the heart of Hollywood. It should feature unique and rare copies of films and Disney memorabilia. It should be the go-to place for hard-to-find Disney film stuff. My thoughts, anyway.

Inside the Magic has reported the one and only (literally) Ghirardelli shop in LA.

MUCH better Disney artwork around the store. Definitely a plus from the Soda Fountain.
