read on another site that disney is toying with the idea with selling its abc radio stations including radio disney-im not sure if they will no longer operate radio disney at all or maybe do like a licensing deal like the disney store-anyone hear this too?

radio's future

I worked for ABC radio in New York City. Selling off radio stations while you can still get something for them is an excellent idea. Radio does not have the appeal that is used to because of inventions like IPODS and Satellite Radio. Radio as we know it will not be the same in a few more years.

The sale is for the radio stations they own, not (at least nothing that I've seen) for Radio Disney...

As always, if some one has heard different... :)
yeah i think your right. it seems that radio disney is very powerful brand and looks like they might dump the stations but keep radio disney via satalite radio or internet station would actually be better for disney by having more control over radio disney with less hassle of radio and fcc.

My favorite Disney/ABC radio asset is ABC's longest-standing: Paul Harvey News and Commentary. He has been with ABC for over 40 years (not sure if it is 50 yet), but his commentary and news delivery is still the sharpest and best on the radio -- satellite or otherwise. And, unlike his contemporary counterparts, he delivers astute observations in short and simple delivery. He says more in his 15-minute noon broadcast than most commentators manage in their whole 3-hour shows.

Wisdom imparted daily!

It's funny that one person mentioned satellite radio, because I actually have satellite radio, and one of the reasons why I got it is because it had Radio Disney on it, and we didn't get it back in Buffalo. Even though I have it down here in Orlando, I still listen to it over my Sirius system, because it sounds better than it does on AM...I can barely hear a thing! Plus Radio Disney is now on my Cable Music Channels here at home...

yeah i think disney will break into satellite pretty hard.alot of big radio shows like howard stern after many years of radio are seeing the benefits of satellite.i think that also now disney will expand on their radio disney web sight to offer a more advanced set up for listeners.this might actually be better for radio disney dropping the radio stations-most were on AM anyway which wasnt all that great.i also think this might be a segway for other divisions to synergize.i can see disney consumer products start to make satellite radios with a promo of one year free of radio disney with each purchase.
