I was talking to a mintanence guy last night at work and he told us that Big Thunder is going down for a rehab sometime in early 2002 for new harnesses and other equipment. He said with all the cut backs it might be down until this summer.

Yeah...I heard its due for a rehabbing...its not DEFINATE its going to take more time..especially after the numbers Disney has been brining in latley...lets all hope they dont understaff the project so we can get back on the Wildest ride inthe wilderness before 4 months ;)

I don't think disney would be that ignorant...now that attendance is rising, the last thing they need to be doing is closing rides for that long. They would not even need to close the ride for the new harnasses...just take one train off the tracks at a time. "Other equipment" could be anything, and provided it's not the track or the chain lift, the ride would not need to close for this...

Weeeel..there could be a silver lining to this rain cloud..

IF it closes that long...chances are disney will open up one or tow "closed" attractions to make up for it....guess which ones ;)

I think 20,000 leagues won't be available for another looong time.
I can't understand why they just keep the space there if the ride isn't working and they aren't constructing anything new. The logic is they build a new ride , or just re-open the old one, but it's ambiguous the way they just closed it once and left it like that.
