Buy Tickets Now for Aug Trip?

With an August 2015 trip set up and a probable price increase coming any day now, should we buy our tickets now so we have them set up or would there be any reasons to wait? It would be a 5 day ticket with park hopper.

Yike! Tough call...... If there is a package discount available during your stay it will include tickets. But there may only be a room discount. Are you staying on property? Are you using DVC points? It depends on several factors. If you will only be purchasing tickets then I say YES!

Staying using our DVC points. Only thing left for us is really buying the tickets. We originally thought about doing AP's as we did several years ago, but not sure of plans to go back within a year from our next trip.

There would be no reason to wait... Disney RARELY discounts tickets when they're not included in a package.

UndercoverTourist is selling 5 day PHs for $366/$345 compared to Disney's $387/$366... just a thought.

You can certainly wait... and keep your eye on discounted tickets sites. As long as your tickets are purchased 60+ days in advance, and linked to your MDE, you'll have no issues with FP+ reservations.

**If you buy now, and decide you'd like to upgrade your 5 day PHs to an AP... you will NOT be able to do so with discounted, 3rd Party tickets... you would have to buy directly with Disney to allow for an AP upgrade when you arrive**

Actually, I did just that in December. I got my tickets through TicketsAtWork: 7 day PH for the price of 4 day PH. (Your employer has to sign up with TAW, everyone should check to see if you get this GREAT benefit at work.)
The key for upgrading discounted tickets to an AP is you have to Activate the ticket (meaning Check into the park) and then you can go to guest services and receive the full value credit towards your upgrade. In other words, they gave me the credit for a 7-day PH towards an AP (I just paid the difference.) I just told the CM at Animal Kingdom Guest Services I wanted to "Bridge the Tickets" to an AP. She typed in her computer and told me what the difference would be (Which I confirmed because I had already done the math:)

Then I bought the Tables In Wonderland and saved even more money:)

Good Luck and enjoy the DVC stay.

As of when? I've done this several times and had no problems.

Apologies guys...

I was basing that post off of information I had read last year from AllEars.

Since our TA package includes tickets that can not be upgraded, even after gate entrance... I has just assumed it was current policy.

After further research... I see that is not the case :facepalm:
